Tell us what you tell yourself as to the reason why you haven't made it yet...

Go ahead... you're not in the game because...

Here's mine....

- I live in Seattle and Sir Mix A Lot ruined this place forever

- I don't live in LA or Atlanta

- Nobody knows what real Hip Hop is and I refuse to make this bubble gum "I'm a Jerk" crap

- I don't have time to hustle, I have kids

- My wife won't let me travel as much as I would need to

- I won't trade my job I have now on for a "maybe" chance

- I don't like the music biz politics, I just want some fat checks

- I just want some fat checks

- I just want more fat checks than I mentioned above, I don't care if anybody ever know my name

- I never learned how to really make music so somebody that put in the effort always beats me out when I submit music

- My style is not the popular style of the day

- I don't seem too eager to get raped for a $3,000 pay day

- I don't feel like grinding because it's frustrating, I need quick turn around for my hustling... If I hustle today, I want to get paid today

- Hip Hop is Dead (Hip Hop as I know it)

- I don't feel like leaving my house... I love it there, lol

- People are always pretending to be something / someone they're not and it's frustrating and I don't have the time for frustration

- I just want some fat checks... did I mention that

- There are no fat checks anymore so what's the use

- Less than .5% of people from a website with 180,000 members have made it...

- I watch more MMA than I make music...

- I don't like the music out now... I wouldn't put my heart into it

- I'm just typing now for the hell of it

- Here's some more typing...

- I've seen too many people waste too much time over the years and have never made any strides and had to end up making music a hobby anyway

- I watch people on futureproducers.com make threads at the beginning of the year saying THIS IS MY YEAR! I HAVE MORE PLANS THAN I HAD LAST YEAR!.... and they start another thread the next year instead of bumping their old one from the previous year

- Your turn - what do you tell yourself so you can sleep at night...

lol

Because my music sux.

No bullsh*t. I got every connect in the world and still manage to do so little.

Nah, man. If you said that... that would be being honest with yourself if it were true (I don't think it is).

This thread is for the excuses... the excuses people make on the journey to realizing that maybe... and just maybe.... the BEAT GODZ might not smile upon them... everybody has told themselves something along the way.

Don't get me wrong, alot of producers suck worse than me and don't realize it.

I can always hear little things in records that make the cut on albums I miss out on. IMO they don't make the beats on the album "better", they made them sound more "fitting of the project".

Everyone's talking about how horrible the beat for Drakes song with Wayne, Em and Kanye is right now. I can hear the detail put into it that got it picked.

So, yeah, it's kind of an excuse.

But I get what you're saying...not like I say the CD got lost in the mail.

One of my peoples always says no one picks his beats because they sound "too expensive" for their budget. lol.

"Pure politics is the reason why i aint make that album"

thats the main one i say to myself lol

Illuminati, they are after me..

.. And I'm wack, I drink to much and beats never leave my PC.. And I can't be bothered..

"- I don't feel like leaving my house... I love it there, lol" ... thats a good one.

- Whoever got picked was cool with the dude that was looking for beats

They just havent found me yet ....

lol

That's my favorite one.

Im not trying to make it (i used to be, but not now). Im trying to have fun. I make music for kicks. (This aint an excuse, this is how it really is. I got some people here in the A and we just make music for the **** of it, Ill bang out a few beats, take to my boy house, we will cypher over it while smokin and the tracks will never get heard again. **** like that. My boy Milkman likes to blend my instrumentals into his DJ mixes as transitions. It's all good fun.) Ive already pulled enough cash to pay for my equipment. If I have to buy something else expensive to continue my hobby, I always know I can lace a couple cats in my area with a few beats and get what I need.

Oh yeah, Im too old too. Thats a good one.

- I live in Seattle and Sir Mix A Lot ruined this place forever

haha i saw him at alki beach a while ago in his orange lambo.

my reasons:

-i lack confidence
-i lack motivation
-im an alcoholic
-im 17
-i lack any defining quality that sets me apart from every other white 17 year old "producah"
-i make south beatz like its going out of style... and it is

Earlier when I was a singer... I did not know how to produce

Then when I figure out how to produce.... I did not want to sing. (no desire to be in the spotlight)

I hadn't released any material to anyone in the last 2 years.

I was working on my technique for the last 4 years.

I needed an artist to work with.

I was waiting on other people for help.

The people who are around me SUCK balls and lack motivation to make good moves in the music game.

I was walking the thin line of taking care of business (copyrights, publishing, etc) and just putting the music out there. Still am....

I was working as a field service engineer and was hardly home. Tried making beats on the labtop but my busy work kept me for having time for that too.

All my good contacts did Latin music.... I need a boarder range of contacts.

I got a home and family to mind and care for.

I got a lot of pride.

I don't like taking chances.

I don't want to compromise myself to making it in an industry that changes more often than the weather. That's why I'm independent and have my own publishing company and production company.....

Not the right time. I'm good , but I know if I push my self to the limit... I'd be better at producing.

As I got further in the music .... I learned that their was more too learn and so much I did not know... So I've been in school learning the game.

I want to be a better father, husband, and provider. And I'm not willing to put what I built with my wife on the line for something my dreams...

I don't spend enough time on music like I use to. I use to make beats till the point my head would ache and my ear were soar. I need to get like that again.

The little time I do spend on music and my company is not enough.

I'm more preoccupied with getting a well paying job and being stable in my home than I am about getting on. Sometimes I feel like if I could have one thing ...the other would fall into place. (Be careful what you wish for.)

I feel like I don't need anyone to make it. From the I end up becoming a Jack of ALL TRADES. And the time it took me to learn or do something on my own usually eclipses everything else. So I end up more informed and improved. But at the cost of time.

I've realized that it takes time. In 2003 a friend of mine gave me a boot leg copy of FL 5 or something. In 2009.... I've come so far and it's been 6 years well spent. My time will come. I got the production skills now and I can sing. Only thing holding me back is me .....and that's the way I like it .... I'm in control and my failure or success totally depends on me....

Mainly it's CONTROL FOR ME .... I want to know every aspect of the industry. FROM production to engineering to music business. I don't want to be no ones puppet. I want to be in control of my own career from the start. And I am. It's just taking longer.

Lastly I got addicted to Future Producers.com... But the online porn did me in though.....LMAO

Also I live in New Orleans.... it's every man for himself down here. I don't know what is wrong with folks....

Yes, I know all that may sound crazy narcotic... but that's pretty much everything I've said to myself the last few years. That.... plus my favorite ..... " I'm just preparing for the Majors"

I used to day dream about being in studios with artist but after I reached a certain level of success doing other things I didn't want to risk the suffering of my family... Dudes like Rick Ross that'll leave his people behind on a whim look like clowns to me. I guess I was never one to live a lie so excuses or self motivating statements weren't really something I thought about. I sell my beats and do projects with local guys but as for my own super producing dreams... Now I dream about taking my wife to Spain next year for our official honeymoon... And thats something I won't have to fear being taken away if nobody likes my shyt... I just hope the plane ride doesn't make me sick like it did when we went to the Islands...

I get to live alil without such a huge risk... If that's not successful then plz tell me what is...

WOW, This threads got me feel'n all proud of myself and shyt...lol

Yeah, things get better after you let the excuses go and just let things be what they are - (that's not saying to quit trying though)

Hope you make that trip man. I've been to Spain before. Some nice spots, some hood spots... just like anywhere else. A tourist spot should be cool though. When I went, they club reps hung out outside of the hotel and gave out free drink cards... so after awhile you had a stack of drink cards from different clubs... and there was no cover charge for the clubs, lol. Club hoppin' to the max is what we did. They were banking on people continuing to drink at eat in their clubs though.

... cheap Americans.

It's just like anything .... you got to try and put yourself out there...
Luck is only the key 15% of anything at the time. The rest is on us....
So enjoy yourself and try your best and the rest will fall in line. That's been my experience at least.
