convice me with REAL arguments that technics are the best. Because I'm boring to heard always "buy techs, buy techs, buy techs..." Don't say all clubs have them, if stanton or vestax had made ST-100 or PDX-2000 20 years ago I'm sure that not all of the clubs choose techs. now I'm waiting your arguments.

OK, in walks one Technics defender. Starting with Stantons, I've yet to try the 100, but I have a hard time believing that it's that much different from the STR8-80. The STR8-80 picks up an insane amount of vibration - the 1200 does this too, but nowhere near as much - causing it to feed back easily. The body on the Stantons is made of some cheap-feeling aluminum which doesn't seem very rugged at all. The startup speed is pretty good but the platter seems unstable and doesn't retain speed and torque as good as the Technics.
That's what I don't like about the Stantons. It does have a lot of features but you'd do just as well with a Technics deck

As for the Vestax PDX2000, I've yet to work with that one a lot more, but my previous experience with Vestax decks (PDX A2s) is actually pretty good. If it wasn't for the price difference over here and the fact that they're not as readibly available as Techs I might just as well have gone with Vestax. The PDX2000 is ugly, bulky and seems aimed at the turntablists, but I can imagine myself buying a pair of PDX D3s decks and be quite happy with them. I can't slag Vestax - it's all a matter of preference and the Technics happened to be what I wanted at the time, plus I could get them fairly quick.

thanks mattu for this reply. I thought this thread should generate more reply

Stanton STR8-100

Ministry of Sound in London have just re-vamped their DJ booth and have installed the stanton decks, as the whole place has gone 5.1 digital! SO THERE! They have although kept some of the 1200s.
The Stantons are just as good as the Technics, I've tried them both, and the only difference is the slight sound quality drop of the straight tone arm on the stantons. This problem can be solved by the S-shaped arm version of the stanton deck. The S arm hugs the groove on the record and so gives a much detailed sound. The str8 arm is wicked 4 scratching tho!
Technics or Stanton, both as good as each other. Want features get Stanton. Want a deck that will last for 50 years, get Technics.
