Hey, I'm a scratch/hiphop DJ, and I'm thinking of getting a pair of Technics turntables.

I know there are the MK2's and MK3's, what's difference between the two of them? I noticed that the MK3's have a pitch-reset button, while the MK2's don't.. that's the only thing I've noticed, is there a difference in the torque and startup?

Which one should I get?

peace.

Technics MK3 M3D

Does anyone know how much toque the Technics MK3 M3D has? as compare to the Vestax PDX2000 2.0 kg/cm toque.....

same as MK2, since they use the exact same motor, 1.5Kg/cm...
the major diff. between MK2 and MK3 (or M3D) is the pitch reset button, and no center dip in the pitch slider
BTW, i wouldn't trust Vestax on the torque... i got the PDX-2K, and on one part of the manual it says 2.0Kg/cm, and on another part 1.8Kg/cm (i guess that's Vestax being "pro" :p ;) )

The differences between the Mk2 & M3d...

pitch reset button instead of the dip at zero which pissed everyone off.

On/Off switch protected so you can't accidently kill hte motor (it's happened to me on mk2s)

The dust covers use a magnetic clasp which makes it easier to remove

There is a space in the shell to store a spare headshell, which is useful if, like me, you prefer your own needles.

The weighting is slightly different, allowing the DJ to put more weight on the cart easily.

All of these differences are very minor, but they are the only things that were wrong with the Mk2. For the price difference, i think its worth getting the M3ds.

The only thing they should have done IMHO is make the pitch slider longer and +/- 10% instead of 8%

Techs mrk 2's have 1.7 grms of tourque,
same as mrk 3d's they both have the same.

Vestax pdx 2000 have 2.2 grms tourque,

but go for mrk 3d's thre dope dex

(dont buy 3d's if u alredy have mrk 2's)

if you're buyin decks new...i'd just say screw it and buy mk3s, cause they're just gonna be a little more than mk2's...if you're buying decks used..and you find a good deal on mk2's i would still snag them...five pence basically summed all the diffs up...but for all intensive purposes...they're the same as far as im concerned (ie, they both rock every other deck)
