Hi, i bought my alesis m1 active monitors about 2 months ago and have been very happy with them, however it has come to my attention now that the bass response at the low end is somewhat lacking and listening to some stuff on other speakers or subs i find that the bass is generally mixed too loud due to my overcompensation... can someone suggest a good sub to complementt these speakers, and would it be wise to run a frequency filter into the sub so i could have a nice frequency crossover somewhere?? the monitors extend to 50hz on paper i think, but at that level, the frequency response, if any, seems to be anything but flat... plz help

thanks

M-Audio SBX. It has a built-in crossover and u run your m1's through it. Or same deal with the samson sb8? I think that's what its called. I know samson is the brand, though. I'd go with the M-Audio SBX. I am planning on getting one myself when i get the dough.

Sweet! An sbx sounds like what i been needing. I too have the alesis M1 actives, and your totaly right, set i do i listen to in the car or when running through soundforge, the bass is always way to much, though it sounded right at the time on teh monitors. Thanks for the tips!
