hi, im having trouble installing stylus rmx on my new intelcore2duo macbook.

ive managed to install the first part, installer thing....but theres 2 more big data folders , the ones with all the sounds in them. they have installers, but when i click them, nothing happens, just get a text kinda weird message.

might be something to do with universal binary..?

i bought the VST second hand from a local seller.
everthing seems to be there, but cant seem to install it.

and even after the littel first installer, stylus rmx DOES show up in logic pro, but its just empty of sounds. ive tried locating the sounds, but i think they need to be properly installed with the installer.

so im stuck.
the text file with it says it will install on an intel mac, v1.6.

any idea anyone? would be most helpful.

thankyou

Depending on your OS you may need Stylus RMX 1.6.1

You do have DVD's

I hope you did not buy a warez version

thanks.

whats a warez version?

there is a text file with it, and it says it supports and will work with intel macs, v1.6

yeah i have the dvd's.

im running leopard, not the latest, but the one but latest.
10.5.3 or 10.5.4

would i just drag and drop the data folders somewhere?

3Tet, I have RMX Xpanded. I had to get the 1.6. Just load the DVD and it will go automatically to where it suppose to be. Mines is working excellent, no problems. Go to the site and download it. That's what i did. You must be registered also. so do that. if you bought it second hand i hope they transfered all the info to you.

i have definately installed it all now....took like over 30mins, both discs.
but its not showing up in logic pro....its showing up in pro tools, but it just freezes when i select it in pro tools.
(even tho i chose to install all the option, VST, RTAS, AU)

its also NOT showing up in ableton.
(ive also tried wrapping it with AU to VST adapter, that thing says "could not wrap stylus rmx")

im gonna run windows xp via VMWare on my mac, for all my old music software that i havent got for mac, or that doesnt run on mac, including this stylus rmx.

(the notes with my stylus do say, that it includes v1.60, which is for intel macs....).....so in theory it should work. (and thats the installer i ran, v1.6........

spectrasonics site says there is a plug in update for it, called v1.61, so i think that may allow it to work with logic pro.

but i dont know if i have a serial. i havnt seen one included. i just have the discs. yeah im gonna email spectrasonics.

so just to clarify, i have installed the 1.60 version of stylus, for intell macs.

and how do i uninstall it????
its not listen in the application list on my operating system (leopard)
i also run appzapper, which also doesnt have it, in its list.

thank guys.

Wow, Ok, I have Tiger, I think it should run with Leopard. You have to install the original disk first that don't work, then get the updater and install that also. So are you using a laptop mac intel or the Desk top Mac Pro Intel? That's how I did It and I had no problem, only problem I had was the 1.5 disk didn't work in my Mac Pro so when I got the 1.6 it works perfect no glitches nothing. it shouldn't be this hard. let me know what you are working off of. I don't have logic so I don't know about that. I have Protools 7.4, what version of Protools do you have also? You have to bring RMX up on an instrument track, not an Audio track or it will freeze. I don't know what version of Protools you are using, if you are using 6.9 - 7.2 or whatever you might have problems and you definitely can't just bring up an instrument track you have to open an Aux, Midi and buss them over to an Audio track.

You're serial should be in the book on the inside of it, that serial will work for any DAW you have whether it be PT, or Logic or Project 5.

You install the first disk, then the second. Then you get the updated download and install that last

Peace

man, thankyou.
theres two installers, one for PPC macs, one for intel macs,
i installed the intell macs installer, v1.6.
the notes suppllied say this is for intel macs.
yeah the update is for logic pro i guess specifically on the spec site.
im using macbook intelcore2duo, 10.5.3 leopard
im also running m-powered demo pro tools 7.4.2
yeah i tried bringing it up on instrument track, and midi....it shows up in istrument track, but freezes when i choose it. ill try it again.
"open an Aux, Midi and buss them over to an Audio track. " daaamn!!! thats alot of work...
it never came wiht no manual or book, i bought i second hand, just the discs. i dont know if i have a serial.
theres a little installer thing, for the stylus interface, small file....
then theres the main 2 installation things/cds.
everything definatlely installed.

i dont need to install the PPC installer do i???
thats for older macs running power pc chips right?
i just mess with the intell staller...right?

so i think i HAVE to get the update....for latest leopard.
so wouldl this be the WHOLE rmx package agian? or would it just be a little update patch to make my copy work on my mac?

its says v1.60 for intel
and 1.61 for logic AU on spec site.

i have the 1.60, so it should work on my mac, with pro tools or ableton.

thanks anyway man.

im new to the mac game.

it may be somthing to do with universal binary.
i think latest leopard only likes to work with UB plug - in.......

Nah you don't have to do the Midi, Aux, to Audio, that's for those that use 6.9-7.1 because after that Digi made just the instrument track so don't worry. Are you using a M-Box? I am using the 002Rack. It will be an update just to help it run on the mac. See I don't know how that notebook stuff runs dealing with Mac, I have the desk top Mac Pro Intel. I am new to Mac also, I am profient in PC but it's not otimized or set like Mac, Mac runs smoother and when you load programs it goes to the respected places it should.

no i said m-powered. which works with m-audio audio interfaces.
i have fast track pro, and pro tools 7.4.2 for mac.

notebook mac is exactly same as desktop mac in operation and instaling etc.

yeah im from a pc background too.

you think i can get the stylus update even if i have no serial or if my version is a copy or somthing? cause the spectrasonics site, asks for a serial, but i just have the cds.....and theres no mention of a serial.

Ok, I gotcha. are you using a crack copy? sorry to ask that's what I am getting . because if you have an original you should have the serial number inside your book on the inside cover. if you don't have a serial number then I don't think it will work. I will look tonight when I go into my studio to see exactly where the serial number is.

Well 3Tet the serial number is inside the booklet you get when buying RMX.

man, i dont know if its cracked, but the guy who sold it me said it was all included legit.

i managed to install it on my pc, and when i loaded it up via a DAW, it asked me for a serial, some challenge and response thing.
the dude who sold it me never gave me no serial.
so i guess its all been a waste.

man. hard work.

but thanks for your help anyway.
peace.

(i could use it for 4 days in demo mode only)

Hold up, it was sold to you by some dude? hell nah you were suppose to get that serial number, if you bought it that is yours now. Bro you need that serial number. Yes it will ask you the serial number and challange. Now I know why it won't go cause you don't have it. If you paid for it I would call homie up and get that serial number or call spectrasonics. That's crazy. How much did he sell it to you for? he was suppose to contact Spectra and give them that serial and they might of would have given you a new one bro. That's crazy. You shouldn't spend money for nothing. without a serial it's not working. If I were you I would get on the job and get it.
