I just purchased the Event 20/20 passive monitors. They are 150W program, 200W peak power handling per side. I would like to know which studio amp would go good with this. How many watts should the studio amp be and if anyone out there has the event 20/20's, which amp are you guys using?

Don't know what the budget is, but if you can step up to a used Hafler (TransNOVA) or Bryston (a 3B would be nice) or a high-current Rotel, you'll be *way* ahead of the previous suggestions...

I'll definitely keep those suggestions in mind. Technically, how powerful should the amp be if you are using monitors that are 150W program, 200W peak power handling per side?

If your budget is not a problem,go with what massive suggested otherwise you would be fine with the amps i mentioned.

If I believed those specs (150WRMS program) I'd say you're looking for a 250 WMRS per channel amp. 1.5-2x the program power is a nice place to be. Unless you're working with sick amounts of headroom... If you're never going to get loud, you can go with .75-1x program without an issue.

Maybe they spec'd them against a home stereo... :monkey:

I'm quite confident a Bryston 2B (60WPC) would launch the 20/20's into orbit. As would any high-current Rotel at 75WPC or so. Or a 75WPC Hafler P1500.
