How do you use SampleTank and Protools?

Do you add a midi track, aux track, what?
I see you can add Sampletank as an insert. but nowhere I have read or even found online how you actually set up your protools track to run sample tank.

I know a bunch of others guys have asked the same question and there are no responses to the threads.

I am going to bump this until there is an answer.

To the ones with the answers, thanks in advance.

Well no offense, but what is the point of not bumping if I can't get my question answered? Want me to make it worse and make new posts each week or even everyday. You know its damn sad that nobody can give an aswer to such a simple question. ANYONE who runs Protools and sampletank, which I am sure there are a crap load of people on here that do, can answer this question.

You are a moderator, so I would expect that you have quite some knwledge in this area. Maybe you have the answer and care to share, or since you are a mod, you should at least know some fellow memebers that should know the answer.

I hate to say it, but this board has not been too much of a help to me thus far. You hardly ever get answers on here. There are more chilish debates on here about a MPC vs Reason, or post pics of your gear, and how much have you spent threads, its rediculous. I do thank the creator of this site and many of the members on here, b/c there is some good factual information and even opinions on products that can help others to make there own decisions and figures out some problems. But that crap you replied with was childish.

Honestly, and no offense, but you know why threads like this aren't answered? It's because the information is not only right in the manual, but it's also right up front in there. Pretty much every book ever written on PT has this info, in easy to find form. I know people "hate" to read manuals, but there's actually stuff in there that you HAVE to know in order to even use the program.

Take a step back, chill out, and approach this board with intelligent questions and conversations. Most importantly do some real research. Nothing's more annoying than the same questions being asked and answered over and over, particularly when the answers are basic things that EVERYONE with the gear or software should know, as it's written clearly in the manuals. There are actually people that ask what cables are needed to hook up their gear to a mixer.

That said: www.digidesign.com. Click on "Disk" at the top, then DiskFlix. Scroll to the bottom and you'll see SampleTank SE. Watch the video. Go have fun. It was mad easy for me to find. Easier than typing out how to do it. Hope this helps. SampleTank, and particularly ST2XL, is a great tool to come up with tracks.
Peace

Thanks, I must appologize, its just that I bought my Digi 001 second hand and I have no manual. I also bought a protools for dummies book and I have read a good 70% of it, and it does not show you how to use sample tank or anything. After doign a search on here and a google search i still didnt come up with anything. This is why I ask. I know I could probably buy another $30-$40 book and read it, but when its soo simple just to ask a question on the internet, why spend my $30 or $40 on a book for one thing when I can spend that money on some sounds, or even buying a legit copy of a program.

Maybe there should be a stickied thread at the top of certain sections with links for many questions. I dont know, I know that mods especially hate hearing the same damn questions over and over, hence why I always search. But even sometimes that is a paing when there is already 327623 threads that come up after the search.

Anyways, Thanks for the link to the digidesign page, I will check it out.

Don't just search this forum. For a PT and SampleTank question, I'd go directly to the source and look for the answer on a related forum (e.g. the DUC and KVR), as well as searching here. IMHO, a book is going to do you a lot better than more sounds. As evidenced in this post, what good are the sounds if you can't figure out how to use them and/or troubleshoot when they aren't playing? You can get the manual/reference guide right off of Digi's site for free. I'm not sure about Sampletank's manual, but how to set it up in various programs is in there. EM just co-produced a "Mastering ProTools LE" book, centered on LE7 but with many tips that cover not only PTLE, but most DAWs. I strongly recommend it if you're just getting starated. It's only $13 and it comes with a CDROM containing video tutorials.

If you want to use Sample Tank in Protools you have to Open an Audio Track, Aux and Midi
If you need futher help email me and I will email you the actual pic of the ins and outs how it suppose to be.

What you are basically doing is Opening up the midi to play through the Aux and the Aux record as audio on the audio track. On the Midi track you have to make sure you have whatever keyboard or whatever you plan to trigger SampleTank with then on the output it should be sample tank

and im not sure if u bought sampletank but in the manual it shows you how to set it up in various sequencers

You might also consider that not a lot of people actually use Pro Tools. It ain't exactly the choice of beatmakers. It's been the choice of engineer, not producers. People can't tell you what they don't know. Well, actually some do, but trust me, you're better off when they don't.
