Try this.
Compose your song, then just put a melody over it. Hum the melody, I don't know how you compose, but I use guitar pro or a DAW straight up and make it a big composition.
With the melody over it, that takes the vocal place, so you simply put words over the melody.
So when you're coming up with the words, the melodies done and it's always kinda interesting.
Remember back in the day when poets and lyricists would spend a whole day finding the right word? Don't do that. Use Google, they would have done it too if they could.
Write about everything you care about, then tie it in with AABC structures, ABAB ect. And rymes. Make it "musical"
melody is already there, put the lyrics over the melody, bobs your uncle.

But there are far more traditional and probably easier processes out there im sure people will be providing shortly

You really just have to keep writing and gradually get better at it. There's no secret to writing lyrics, you have to figure it out on your own... Just like any other form of art.
