are the Stanton STR8-60's good for skratching? (im thinking about getting the Stanton Skratch Pak) im a poor bastard and if i could afford technics i would get them, but i cant so blah.

Haven't actually used them so please don't blame me if you don't like em. I heard that basically they never skip, same as the vestax straight tone-arm ones (which I just got one of, Yay!) but coz theyre a budget kinda deck they don't have as much torque as those. This means that You can't let go of a record and expect it to be full speed. However I started learning on low torque Numark ones that skipped all over the place until I really started to learn how to use them gently. So if You get these you should still be able to learn pretty well I reckon. If you go all Stanton kit I heard the Stanton SK-2F scratch mixer is pretty nice for the price. If anyone feels that I don't know what I'm talking about please feel free to correct me.

alright, thanks... im only 13 and im new at turntableism.

Maad Sheet, only 13. Well I guess people start playing Guitar, Piano etc at an early age, why not turntables instead? Well cool anyway man.

Do a thread search and you should come up with a couple postings about the Str8-60's. I've asked about them in the dj equipment forum, and the general census there is to spend the extra dough and get the Str8-80's, they're supposed to be real nice. (they come in the platinum pak).

muhahahahaha i ordered the platinum pak today =)
thanks for the info and shiet.

at 123dj.com it was $758.73 (2 week delivery)
but i did the 3 day air shipping thing so its $789.64.
it comes with everything u need, and at turntablelab.com its $790 or something for NORMAL shipping and all u get is the 2 tables, a mixer and the cartridges. 123dj.com has the cheapest price ive seen for the platinum pak.

760?, i called them up about 3 weeks ago and they were having a sale, and they were selling the platinum pak was 589!!!!!!. And be wary of 123dj.com, the consensus seems to be that they're not too reliable.

hmmm... what do ya mean there not too reliable? like how many people have been ****ed over by them? eh... well if they try **** with me THEY SHALL FEEL THE WRATH OF SATAN! (echo) (echo) MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! no actually ill probably just call em up and ask where my sheet be, beech. and if they dont get me sheet then.. SHEET... yeah anyhow... it was suppose to be $699, and then shipping went upto $758.73, THEN i did the 3 day air thing so the total came out to be $789.64... i e-mailed em about 2 weeks ago and they said the price was $630 or somethin...hope i dont get ripped off. =\

a buddy of mine ordered from 123DJ. They said they had the equipment in stock, but took weeks to actually send out. And when they did, they forgot some stuff.. Real hassle.

I've had the Stanton STR8-60s for about ayear now. I got them brand new for £320 a pair. For that kind of money they are excellent for beginner scratchers. I personally prefer
them to my mates' Numark TT2s. My only complaint is the torque of the STR8-60s, but hey thats how to develop your twinkle fingers.

str8-6 good idea

:monkey: ok, i had a pair of gemini xl-500's, BIGGEST PIECES OF S***, so i went out and got some 60's from stanton, and let me say i was really impressed for what i paid, i got a lot out of it. OK no table is perfect (except for techs...according to all u people) but this came close, the needle hardly ever skipped, even when i was scratching with old story book records from when i was 3 that were all f***ed up. the platter doesn't slow down nearly as much as the gems and not only that, the Stantons, yes although the shell is made of plastic, it is pretty f***ing pretty with the blue lights and sh**. defintely a good choice for a starting dj. i had more to say but my ADD is taking effect...i';ll be back.

this was posted 5 months ago, what are you doing responding to it now?

just found out

yo i just found out about this site, so i saw this and replyed i didn't know it was 5 months ago, my bad

i also have the str60 and i agree that they are one of the better starter tables out there in that price range....scratching on them isn't too bad except for the low torque, i actually learned to do quite alot with these tables. the good thing is that u are forced to develop a light touch with the record and that's not a bad thing... and on the plus side, when u upgrade to techies, u can only be that much better.... :)

yo try www.djtronix.com they got the cheapest prices!!!!!
they got the platinum pak for 625.and the vestax and stanton and rane mixers are cheap as hell!!!!
