First of all, there isn't a settings switch for the upfaders for nothing now is there. So if you think the curve stinks, adjust it.
Second, the output on the new batch is fine. The first batch had some problems, but that's not unusual with new innovative products.
Third, 'only the best djs' work with regular faders? Aren't these the same guys than that get spnosored for using them??? Also, it depends on what you're used to. If you've been using Vestax pmc 05 pro for instance, it would make sense not to switch to another one if it has worked good for u in the past.
However, if you haven't made up your mind yet, you could benefit from using for instance the SK-2f.
Also, I have heard stories about the Vestax line of mixers. I.e. you open it up and wonder what you paid for (the circuitry in the mixer seems to be pretty simple).
Oh yeah, they don't call it a 'battle' mixer for nothing. If you wanna mix records, get a 'dance party-gig' type of mixer (like a Numark

. If u wanna scratch, the SK-2f is the bomb. What can I say, sn optical fader RULES!
Respect.
