SP1200+akai s950 confusion

Hi i'm just curious, if i combine these two together will then have more sampling time and still be able to sequence with the SP1200?
How would i use these in conjunction with each other?
I was thinking that the SP1200 could be used for the drums and then the S950 could be used for other samples..but how do those samples fit on the sp1200 if the SP only has 10secs sampling time? Sorry if i sound ignorant, but i am, and need some clarification.
Like if i have a melody on the S950, lets say when i boot the SP1200 and load a song, will it trigger the sounds in the s950 to play along with the sounds (for eg. drums) on the SP1200?

I don't own either one, but it will will not give you more sample time in one machine. You can't transfer Ram between machines. In essence, it will give you more virtual sample time slaving the s950 (through midi) to the sp1200's sequencer. Therefore, whatever your akai s950 holds, that will give you the extra sampling capability that the sp1200 doesn't have. That's a helluva combo! Let me know if this clears up this question. later


Oh yeah, about the triggering of the s950 if you load a disk. Check out the user's manual of the sp1200. I own a MPC 60 and use it for drums and to sequence my ASR-X Pro. My 60 allows me to load a program (drum kit) and a sequence. The sequence triggers my ASR as well as the drum program samples. Your's should have something similar. If you have anymore question P.M. and I can try explain further in detail.

The addition of S950 will not increase the sample time of the SP1200, but it will give you the ability use the two in unison. The SP's limited sample time makes it difficult to use for loops. There are ways around that. The 950's sample time and filtering abilities can be used on samples and loops other than percussion. Use the SP as the master sequencer to the S950.
