Well this is my 1st post ever on FP, forgive me if I fcuk up. Im gonna write a lot here so please respond to whatever piece you can.thx.

This is where I stand after my first month with PMP: I joined 11.13.07. I have 5 subscribers by the names of

12/15/07 - AZ
12/10/07 - the watchers
11/30/07 - Q.C. Commission
11/30/07 - PLANAY
11/15/07 - D.K.

If anybody knows who "the watchers" or "Q.C. Commission" are..jus curious.

I also recieved an inquiry or "offer" from what I presume to be an indie, however they rep a pop artist who has some kind of demo deal situation with Jimmy at Interscope(fairly verifiable thru google). Here is the transcript of messages so far from this:

BEGIN QUOTE"Chi Duly, Please contact *** of ****** at 404.***.****or email *** regarding the offer of promptly purchasing numerous tracks from you. We would like to speak directly thru phone or possibly in person (if you are in NY at the moment) rather than thru website messages. The selected tracks here on PMP are just to show an idea of what sound we are interested in even though your sound seems to vary which is excellent. Thank you, *****

TIMEOUT: i had a phone call with the gentlemen interested - he seemed cool i told him my ballpark $. I also put up a private two-day pmp session for him to privately look at other tracks. I told him to get back to me asap even if NOT interested -so that i could switch my page back to public..he never hit me back. UNTilll....TIME-IN

Chi Duly...these are the two tracks we are interested in: 1. ***** 2. ****** Could you ftp the files over to us...Give me a call" END QUOTE

Wait..why didnt this guy just call me instead of posting a message on pmp? didnt he say "We would like to speak directly thru phone or possibly in person".

Also- he doesnt return with an offer, only "ftp the files over to us" lol. are u joking me?

Has anyone else dealt with things like this? He doesnt seem to be a broke wannabe tho. his web design is phenomenal and his artist is legit.

ANYWAYs i like pmp. It keeps my mind in the right place for the most part. I don't feel ready for these jada and Nas track dumps. I might have ONE track that would bang for em but after hearing what happened in a certain meeting with a certain "Curtis" one-hitter - Im not ready to back up a hit single right now.

BTW I've read every last one of the 48 posts on this thread, and what a ride it was. Im glad i did that. Great info.

DeRaNged asked if A&R's could still get in contact with producers after they cancel their pmp. Abom not long after, popped up looking for the elusive Hi-Fly for a shady project. That was one of the most inspiring moments on this thread.

AND what's with the gap in time after July 07 on here? It jumps from there to a week ago.

55 subscribers right now

and a some major connections made thru PMP.....infact i got a meeting on tuesday...

the whole point of PMP is so these executives kno ur there and can get in contact with u when they feel they need to

if u on here thinkin u gonna get a placement....ur silly......these A&Rs are looking for go-to guys....bc if u got heat, they gonna keep comin back

not everybody is gonna win with a hail mary like Apex......so if u kno all ya **** aint hot, then u need to step ya game up

anyways.....i wont announce anything until 1st quarter 08

and i spoke with AZ not too long ago, **** bout to get ugly......PMP is just the 1st chapter, as he says.....you'll see soon enough in 08

but keep doubting if u wish

i would like to sign up to PMP.. but idk.. i dont think my beats are at that level rite now..

but it would give my r & b beats a chance to get heard by some major level talent.. i dont have any singers round my ways

but yea i've heard good things about PMP.. and the few bad things i've heard.. arent that bad lol

I'll tell you like this... don't pay $50 a month if you question whether your beats bang...

simple.

I know my beats aren't for everybody... especially not for other producers / musicians. They are made for rappers... so rapper feedback > producer feedback.

yea my beats aint THAT great.. there decent.. mabe even above average.. but not good enough to be payin $50 a month for feedback..

which is why ima wait lol

My beats just got better.... bought a new PC... still using the same soundcard but for some reason... everything sounds more clear and I don't have to wait for anything to load... there's nothing like watching a patch for an NN-XT load, oh the excitement is unexplanable!...

Made my first beat on it last night.... BANGA!!!

Moral: A slow ass PC can cause you to become uninterested and stifle your creativity and piss you off until you don't even want to make beats... now I'm excited again to not have any workflow issues.

yo good looks on you doing your thing. I've thought about joining PMP but then i assumed my work isn't good enough yet.. Its not that its so expensive, its that I would be loosing my own money and not getting anywhere. I might join sometime soon or maybe next year.

I jus added u on myspace.

Man. A slow ass PC really stifles your creativity, and really limits the boundaries you can push, because there are only so many things you can do.

I've had tracks that I had to STOP working on, because my computer couldn't handle all the things that I was pushing Reason to do.

So yeah...definitely agree.

It's a liberating experience to get the "right" equipment. That's what I treat it as now. My PC is a piece of musical gear just like my midi controller. I used to think of upgrading everything except the PC... OH! Reason 4! OH! LIVE 7!.... upgrading to be pissed off, lol.

... having a slow PC is like having a guitar with 2 strings... you know what you want to make... but can't

... and if you are a software based producer / beatmaker... it's your most important piece of equipment.

I'll be droppin' a lot of ish on PMP in the near future... you all know how that ish goes... New Year comes around, people get excited, lol. I'm excited again though.

... no cracked ish on the new PC either... I'll use freeware that comes close.

Could you possibly get your name out there and get into contact with major artist from major record labels on this website? Just checked it out and it looks awesome.

That's the whole purpose of the site...

I suggested a Pay To View forum the other day... $25 per month to look at it. - outside of the $50 you pay per month....

Pay up ya batches.

PMP got me some shine, but as J. Troup said: they offerin dry bread. but stuff ive been bangin out the last couple of weeks is simply amazing - don't even know what to do with it... but need better connections.. PMP is limited.. there are LOTS of young talented beatmakers on the net, that could have major placements.. the first step into the 'real' game (gettin Majors to listen your stuff through) is hard as hell, im tellin you.. again as J. Troup would say: 30% talent 70 % bu...

Sign in- click manage your tracks- pick a track- click "track dump" ,pick artist, click "submit beat". DONE
How can I look at these artists without signing up? I would like to see what type of artists are on there.

Also, how does the actual buying work?
They like your instrumental, pay you and you send it electronically?!
That seems very strange

Or do you agree a price, and send a track seperately?

Who owns the rights to the instrumental afterwards? Are these negotiable, or fixed in PMP?

You cannot listen unless you are a registered buyer. The front page featured tracks give a good idea of what is on there, and theres enough on there to keep you busy for a good while.

PMP has no part in the actual buying, you can be contacted through PMP and discuss a deal but thats all left up to you. PMP doesnt get involved in that part.
This is not your average beatselling Website, I recommentd doing some research.

interesting. never heard of this site before.

i need an opinion... if the sort of beats i've been doing recently are kind of guitar-intensive, lots of other-genre influence (rock, industrial, metal, reggae/dub), will that place me at an advantage or disadvantage on this PMP site? and advantage, in the sense that i'm setting myself apart from the bulk of straight hip hop producers? or a disadvantage, in the sense that people arent looking to risk going for stuff thats all that eclectic on this site?

and, having original music w/o samples, is that an advantage or disadvantage with this site? my newer stuff has been all original but i have some older stuff with cool samples that aint been used before.

All depends on what the project is looking for. I got some stuff that fits projects, so I'll submit. Other projects I don't have what they are looking for, so I'll pass.

The key is (as in all music) is to strike that balance between fresh and familiar. Fans want music they can relate to, but doesn't seem old.
