Question, Has anyone attempted to use one of the SCSI to USB adapter cables with one of the older AKAI samplers such as the S2000, S3000...?
Is it possible to make this work with the PC version of MESA II software?

It probably won't work since the sampler wouldn't have any way of knowing what usb is (drivers/firmware). If you can swing it, I'd reccomend looking for an old s5000 OR 6000. AKSYS works well, but you'd have to find the optional usb card too. That's the only usb option i know of with the older akais. The newer Z series has it built in.

Thanks xeronine for your input. I just bought an S2000 pretty cheap, going to try it out. Never owned a sampler before, always wanted one. I think the S5000 or S6000 would be great to have, just a little poor to get it right now.

Thanks again.

Curious, how much did you get your S2000 for?

I have an S2800 to sell. In regards to the S5000, i have recently seen two sell for $175 and $190.

I bought my S2000 off Ebay for $90 + shipping. Ran me $125 total. Came with all the manuals and original disks. That is what made it attractive to me. No chasing after OS disks and the like. I did have to upgrade the memory to 32meg, it came with 8meg. Found that for $15. Would love to have the effects board, but can't bring myself to pay more for that option than I paid for the whole machine. :) Might as well buy a S5000 or S6000 if I'm going to spend too much more on it.

Thanks for the web site, xeronine.
