My friend recently found an old DDD-5 at a garage sale for 5 bucks, and we've been ****ing around with it a bit over the past few nights.

There was no manual, and for the most part, the interface is fairly straightforward. We've been able to create patterns, make songs from patterns, and whatnot, but I can't figure out how to actually save a song to the ddd-5's memory.

If you look at the picture here: http://hem.passagen.se/tkolb/art/synth/images/ddd5.jpg
, you can see there is a 'Save' label on the same button as 'Start.' I can't find a Shift key of any sort, and I can find the approriate keys on the options matrix to save a song or pattern. Any ideas?

I figured it out.

In case someone searches this in the future, here is the deal. The DDD-5 has an internal memory that is cleared after a certain amount of time of the unit being shut off. The one I have would save pattern and songs if you turned it off and immediately back on, but if you left it off for a few minutes, it would lose the data.

The key is to use the 'data transfer' button to export your memory to memory card or tape or midi. I don't have a memory card yet (which would be the easiest way, obviously) but I tried the 'tape' method (involving the DDD-5 exporting seemingly random tones to a cassette tape and then being able to read them later) and it worked great.

Memory card or MIDI would be the way to go though, as the tape saving took a solid two hours of messing around to get it to record correctly.
