Sampling into a mpc 2500

Should I use a mixer to record in the mpc 2500 when sampling? Also, does it matter if its a dj mixer or recording mixer when sampling?
 
Depends on what you samplin from. As long as you can get a clean signal it rly don't matter..

A mixer isn't necessary. Like PriceWrite said, you will need phono preamp unless you have one.
 
You will need a phono preamp. If your stereo receiver has PHONO inputs, it can do it. If not, there are plenty of small phono preamps in ebay. You can probably get them from your local audio equipment store as well.

yup!! I don't think the profire does have phono, but check the manual to be sure

Do you have a mixer and are wondering if it should be used? or are you trying to stay on a budget and not have to buy a mixer?

If you're tryin to just get to work and make hip hop instrumentals and beats, the phono pre-amp is cheap and will work..

If you already have a mixer, it can be useful to EQ the sample as you're recording it in. You'd want a decent mixer so your sample isn't degraded..

If your going to be sampling from record players you need to be able to ground the signal.
You can find a cheap DJ mixer for around $30 at just about any pawn shop.
