i wanna make hip hop beats , i need a good sampler/synthesizer combination, i understand that not all sample cds are compatible with all synthesizers, i would like as many sounds and cds as possible. i want a sampler and a synthesizer combonation that can rack up a huge library in sounds, im not concerned about memory i dont need to build a huge library .... i just want a tonne of instruments that I can play.....thanks

I don't know... maybe a Triton would be a good choice. You didn't describe your budget, but if you can handle $1200 or more, the Triton would be cool.

Peace.

yeah i dont know about a budget...im prepared to spend i guess......all i know is there are samplers and sample cds that only work with certain types of synthesizers and i need a combination of the two.

Sample CDs are not really compatible with any "synthesizer." However, there are some synths that can load, record and edit samples and that synth with sample features would need a CDRom. You can however, use your computer as a central location/library for your CD samples and load the files as WAVs into your synth with sample features or sampler.

A Triton can do that. I'm not sure about the Motif or VSynth or Fantom, but I believe they have similar sampling/sampler features... the Kurzweils also do.

Oh yeah. There is software for your computer that reads almost all of the major CD formats and can convert those sounds to WAvs for use in your computer sound library.

If your budget is on the low end, there are a few older samplers with some strong synth features that you may wanna check out. You can even fidn them used for a decent price.

The ASR10 has some strong synth features. The Akai and Emu samplers are awesome in my opinion and have a huge sample CD selection from lots of sound makers and distributors.

Good luck.

An ASR-10 or a triton motif or fantom are good sampler synth options.
i have a korg ms2000r for synths and a MPC 2000xl for sampling and sequencing.

yeah i was looking at an mpc 2000xl, im a newbie and wanna do it right, can you hook the sampler up to s synthesizer and play out all the different drum kits and sounds on the keys of a synthesizer?

MC-909 has synth capabilities built in, and is a kick-ass sampler to boot! and you can get it on e-bay for $800 US Brand New. Its the next peice i plan to purchase for my studio.

Manphet

Yeah Spooky.
You can use the keyboard to play the MPC's samples. But, since the MPC has such a powerful sequencer, it's probably better to use that sequencer and uise the keyboard to play it's own parts as midi into the MPC's sequencer.

Peace.

Asr-10 isnt exactly a synthesizer persay.

It doesnt have pre-installed sounds. But it has great effects and everything.

Plus the sampler is sick

I use an MPC3000 and a s950 loaded with the samples I made from my Motif, Roland XV5080 and MoPhatt, sounds hella good. Im trying to get a Microkorg again to play basslines and add trippy sounds.

I have the Motif ES 6 & MPC 1000 tight duo fo sho!

~I would get a MPC of yur choice and a nice rack[like the fantom-xr or the motif es rack wheneva that drops] and add a midi controller since the MPC will be yur master! Just a lil thought to put in yur mind playa!

yup, that's what I like about the motif ES you can hook up a usb CD rom drive and load cds right into it without a computer.

Yep! That's very true MadScience but the Fantom-X is lookin impressive tho! :monkey:
