I respect his legacy but he like many in the industry staying having a foot in the mouth on social issues in the so-called "urban" side of the industry that while I don't expect pioneers to speak on them, ignoring is no less worse than unconsciously and consciously participating in the dissemination of a certain gender "ism" blatantly and covertly displayed in lyrics and accompanying visuals. He has been the very definition of gatekeeper that he often speaks on regarding the business. I never knew until late that he didn't want his artists on "Self-Destruction."
