Sorry for bombarding this forum with roland x vs y topic, but i realy need a good bread butter workhorse in my set up.

Can anyone tell me the exact difference between the concerning the onboard sounds:
jv1080
jv2080
xv3080
Ive heard that the jv2080 has standard a the techno expansion on board, can anyone elaborate on this??

JV-1080 and JV-2080 are basically the same - 64-polyphonic, and the same ROM (seems to be 16MB equivalent).

The main difference is that JV-2080 has more effects.

XV-3080 is 128-polyphonic. The ROM is expanded (seems to be 32MB equivalent). I think XV has better frequency response than JVs.

I recommend XV because of the sound quality, unless you can get JVs for very reasonable price.

neither the 1080 or the 2080 have the techno board included. Differences 2080 has more effects, bigger display and more expansion slots. If you can get a 2080 for around max 400 USD go for that. I have one which i bought off ebay.

Good luck.

ive checked the xv5050 at a friends house and i was blown away. The sound was marvelous, very bright and musical much better then the jv.
