roland PMA5 or yamaha QY..?

hey guys..
my craving for new gear is starting again..
i have about 300usd to spend, and i was thinking of getting maybe, something small compact, so i can carry it around in my pocket, since my daytime job requires whole lot of deak time..
so i have come to look at roland PMA5 or qy70...
any1 has exp. the pma n qy70..?
i m mainly looking for somoething with lots of chords(and memory), pattern sequencer, easy of use(so i can make quick sketches n stuff)
anyother options..?
how bout qy20..? i love to get qy100 but money is kinda tight under 300usd..

I had the pma 5, good idea but it wasn't too useful for me.

I also wanted it as a sketchpad but it just wasn't good for me.

A midi controller comes pretty handy. It's pretty hard to make something with just the stylus.

Some people like the PMA 5 a lot, I didn't. It's up to preference. I wouldn't pay more than $150 for one.

I have no experiences with the QY line. I always wanted to give them a shot but never did.
 
Hey I still got my QY70.

If it wasn't for that joint, I probably wouldn't be makin beats now. I don't if they make the QY70 anymore. I think they replaced it with the QY100. They're basically the same except for SmartMedia Card support and a couple other features. But you're gonna be spending close to $500. Unless you find a QY70 on Ebay or somethin!
I dusted my QY off about 3 weeks ago to snatch a beat off of it. Basically I could use it as sound Module. The QY70 has chord memories in it, too. The QY has about 550 Yamaha XG sounds in it. So you're good with that. Realistic sounds, too! The only bad thing about the QY70 is that there is no backlight. So if you're in a dark room, forget about makin beats. And you can use it with Batteries. Get you some real good Industrial batteries, not ones from a dollar store!

i just found on qy70 for about 200 local.. i might just get that, but no back light..? hummmm
i m deciding over qy70 or PSP...
 
Get yourself the QY70. You wont regret it. The backlight issue is the only flaw. For its size, you cant beat it. It'll be a Fully-Packed SoundMoudule, 24-Track Sequencer, drum machine for only $200!!!
