If you referring to hitting up Akai to ask whether they plan on releasing an MPC to replace the 4000 anytime soon, the answer I received about 4 days ago was something to the effect of "not to their knowledge." But you have to take that for what its worth. All I know is I'm quite familiar with the MPC4000, and I can't wait to get my hands back on that machine later on today after an 8-month separation period! I guarantee you I will not be selling the 4000 again!

And with that said I guess I will let this thread rest till I wake up. Its 4:30 in Dallas TX right now. But I did email them and this is what I sent them ,maybe they will hit me back.

"Hello. Can you guys post something up and let the world know what you are going to do about the MV8800. The forums are going crazy and half of the MPC users are jumping fence. I want to stay with Akai but the Roland MV8800 is really changing my mind. All you guys have to do is create a better chop function, think recycle 2.1, add color to the screen and add a vga monitor and you guys are good to go. Well maybe there is more room for improvement than just those few things but trust me if you just add those few things there will be no question on who is the best. Now you might think adding extra to the MPC4000 that the price would go up but the price should stay the same with the extra options because for everything that you can do with the MV8800 there price is still cheaper than the 4000. Please do something about this. You guys have had the number one spot and I dont want you to loss it. I am a 2000xl owner and im looking for a upgrade, I will wait till the end of the year and I hope by then you will at least have word on when you will come with something that can go head to head with the 8800. The 500 was cute but you need to add more bang to the 4000 for the big boys. Theres no reason to try and design a new MPC, please just add to the 4000 and call it a 5000. Thank you and please let me know if you are working on something because if I see Rza do one more video for the MV I might have to go and buy it. ALso get Just Blaze on your team if he isnt already. He is or was a 4000 user. Hell last I heard he went to software. If that is true just give him a newly designed 5000 and pay him and he will go back to using Akai. Please hip hop need you Akai. "

Are you pleading with a big corporation that values the money more then the devoted customers, or just asking them nicely?

I could care less now if Akai loses the number one spot.
