I currently use a MV8000 as my main sequencer and my MO6 for sounds, but it's not enough.. I use some instrument sounds in the MO6, but some of them kinda suck to me... I heard the XV5080 has a very warm feeling to the instrument sounds. I know that the XR has more sounds or what not, but does it have the same warm feeling as the XV5080. Also, what's the difference between the XV5080 and the XV3080. I need help on this decision, holla!!!

If you get the Fantom X/XR, you can download the XV5080 patches from rolandus.com. Then you'll have both modules in one!!!!!

Yep, i got the XV5080 set downloaded to my Fantom XR:cheers:

So do all the 5080 patches fit in the fantom I though you can only have like 256?

I think what he is trying to ask is if the Fantom X sounds as WARM as the 5080 (meaning most likely how do the converters sound incomparision to each other).

I'm not sure that the 5080 patches that were ported for use in the Fantom sound EXACTLY like they did in the 5080.

Yeah, that's true for saving to the user presets I believe. Most cats on the Fantomized board say they are saving them in folders on CF cards.

convertors on the XV series are higher resolution in comparison to those in the fantom. sounds glassier, the high ends are a little bit more intact.

not too noticeable though.

Not to re-hash the subject, but is that true for the XV-5050 as well? Thanks.

yeah, the latter XV series use better convertors than those available for the fantom.

but again, it probably doesn't make all that much difference, unless you really like bell noises and middle-aged white man electric piano sounds.

I know i've had a chance to play with the fantoms on several occasions in the music stores and to me the converters definitely seem to be very clear, but they also seem to sound a lil bright but also a little thin sounding as well. However a lot of the patches are really drenched in reverb and effects so its kind of hard to get a feel for EXACTLY how the converters sound or what they may be capable of producing.

Anyhow, I've never heard a 5080 directly but i'm wondering if it sounds warmer and/or fuller than the Fantoms. I know i have a JV-2080 which I think sounds a pretty thin and bland to my ears. Is the 5080 really THAT much better than the JV line?

I tried to install the editor but how do i open the damn program. Should there be a icon. Is there a tutorial on how to do this? Is 1.53 the oldest os for the editor?
