The only way I can see having a difference between rewiring reason and bouncing audio is the mixer. It's already established that the 14:2 mixer changes sound if you don't like the change don't use it.
Second I have to agree with Deranged the OP's test was flawed and he was trying to be objective and let you know to re-assess your experiment.
Third to Danoc I wouldn't even sweat it the only way I can see a possible loss of audio quality while bouncing is if you're dithering out of Reason. You'll dither the audio tracks when you mixdown from ProTools so to do it twice I believe would make a difference in audio quality. Whether it's percievable or not I don't know but, scientifically there would be a difference.
For the record, I rewire Reason into Sonar without the mixer and bounce the audio inside Sonar when I'm done. I prefer to work in Sonar so I use Reason like any other VST. However, I also have projects I've done entirely in Reason and I don't have a problem with the quality of the mix from it either.
I've heard people swear up and down that sound quality changes from DAW to DAW but, I have yet to see anyone provide any scientific evidence to the fact. I'm a firm believer that half the sound differences that people claim to hear from DAW's, VST's etc.. are purely psychological and would fail under a blind test. That's my opinion.
