Hi people!

I got a new track up, and I was wondering if someone would want to review it?
Tell me what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong.

If you have the time, please check out "Harmony of life".

to start off, I'm not really a "melodic trance" fan and keep in mind, my "rating" of your track is only my "opinion" of your track. We may have completely different tastes

Harmony of Life is not as annoying as a lot of tracks on MP3.com. . .BUT! it goes through the same cycle of chord changes, and there is no distinguishable pattern in there. It sounds like a 'template' trance track with the high synth (sounds like a saw-form maybe), the throbbing 'and' bassline (1-and, 2-and, 3-and, 4-and), the 'two annoying 16th notes and an 8th note pattern' [asn8-pronounced assinign8) (da-da-daa, da-da-daa, da-da-daa, and so on and so forth), and whatever other trance elements there are. Basically what I am saying is it sounds alright, but I wouldn't be able to pick it out from 300 other alright sounding trance songs. Also, I'm not sure who your intended audience is, but long *** breaks in the middle of songs can mean "yes, I'm feeling it" if you are 14, or it can mean "time to go take a leak, get a beer, or check out a different room". In my opinion, it doesn't matter what genre you are hearing, the beat should not stop for more than 16 measures otherwise it just kills the dance floor.

PopD,

Thank you for taking the time to review my track.
However, I find it kind of sad that you think it's that extremely mainstream. Anyway, I'll try to keep your comments in mind when producing other tracks.

On your track harmony of Life, I think it's relly great.

However, in my opinion, your song reminds me of System F- Out of The Blue. The instruments really sound almost the same. But I am not saying it's not original, you are very orgininal in your own way despite the chords are the same as System F.

Anyway, a lot of songs have the same chord cycle as a lot of other songs too. What makes the difference is the song, or the solo and the synths. I receive many comments from people who tells me that my song sounds like this guy or that guy, but the bottomline is, try to make our song as on our own althought there is some infleunce there.

Your song is cool and it's danceable if that is your goal. Kudos.

You said that 16 measures of beat stop would kill the dance floor. That really depends on when it should happen. There are dance that actually have such long stops after such long hour of beats so people do have some time to get their breath.

It's the matter of when your song come in the sequence of other songs.

actually it is a matter of my opinion, as well as yours. All I know is that when I am at a club and getting into a set, and working up a sweat, and feeling the music, it pains my @ss when every song has a cute little break where the producer can demo his atmospheric tones on his new synth. It halts the momentum, and just like general physics, it takes more energy to build up that momentum.

dmauco,

Thank you for listening to my track.
I'm really glad that you found it enjoyable.

However, I do not agree with you that it has the same chord progression as System F - "Out of the blue".
Take another listen and compare.
If you listen carefully you'll see that I've used a longer and a bit more advanced chord progression than in "Out of the blue".

Oh well, I should stop talking.

Well you are right. The chord progression are different. I listened to it again, but somewhat it stills mimics a little of System F.

To tell you the truth I really prefer your track more than System F if I would compare to System F. I feel that there is still something to add to it, ie. there's room for more instruments.

Now could you review some of my tracks in my songs? If you don't have the time, just review only one. I have posted a review request. Please find it.
