I dont know exactly what application your using your mic for, but I have a shure ksm27 and it doenst have an on and off switch. I have it patched into a mic-pre that has a phantom power switch.

When I want to turn the mic on I just push the phantom power button. But my pre-amp is patched into my mixer on track 23. When I want to not hear the mic while it is on, I just press the mute button.

Your welcome for the input.

Your KSM27 is a condenser mic. We're talking about an SM58 here, which is a dynamic, and by design doesn't need phantom power. BTW: you can't "patch" phantom power through a patch bay. That's a big "no no" in audio engineering.
