recording from mpc to audacity

how do i record from mpc to audactiy and still be able to edit each individaul track? or do i have to record one track at a time?

whatever you use as your audio input should be selected.
hit record and have fun.

now from what i know, audacity is not a multitrack editing type software. so you either have to do one track at a time (not recommended) or get yourself a mutli track software editor.
 
It will multitrack several tracks at once.You just have to enable it in the preferances.
 
I don't know the program but even if you have to track out individually, it's not that bad. With drums, if they are mono, you can track two at the same time. So you can cut down alot. If your sample is mono, you can track out your sample and say bass at the same time. This is how i did it, i had to since i used spdif. It took about 20 min per beat, i could have cut that down alot by just recording loops but i found it easier. It seems to bug people, i never cared.
 

That program doesnt allow MIDI syncing. Dont use it for tryin to track individual tracks from your MPC. Everything will be off. Try a program like Adobe Audition, Cubase, ect that will allow MIDI syncing so when u track each sound everything is still in its place.

You can track out without midi syncing. All you need to do is put a 1 bar sequence with a sound. Then, never mute this track when tracking out. So this sound occurs at the beginning of every track. Then line them all up. Then cut off the beginning, your good. It can be challenging with alot of tracks but if it has a distinctive wave form, it's easy to line up if you zoom in alot to where it lines up so it sounds pretty much perfect.
 

I know that can be done but the other way is so much easier especially if u on the go or are dealin wit a bunch of tracks. But preference plays a major role to I guess.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to say it's the best way to do it, or even a good way really. But it does work, it is a pain though.
 
you could always do smpte syncing....that's how i'm doin' it w/ my mpc and Cool edit pro v.2.0...ain't no problem!
