reason sound bank question

My c drive is almost full up and I get messages to clean it up as windows needs at least 200MB to run steadily, all i have on it though are my program files and I really can;t free up any more. I use another partition for my documents, So i tried moving the reason factory sound bank to my d drive, as its about 515MB but reason won't even open unless it in the program directory, is there a way to get around this ??
 
Id 'get' a proffesional studio if I won the lottery. I just spent hundreds on Cubase SL and a few plugins. Is there no way i could just get reason to look to my d drive for the bank??
 
yeah, I saw something about it on their website. I can't remember what I went under, but if you search around on their site I'm sure you'll find it. It was something about you have to rename the file path in reason. Sorry I can't help and be more elaborate.
 
how do you start reason but not ask for sound factory cd???
I have a registered version but I just dont want my pc to run my cd rom while running reason. Do I just copy the soundbank file to my c drive?????
 
go to the Propellerhead website and it tells you in the support section how to do this.

Why am I requested to insert my Factory sound bank disks every time I open a song?
Q. Every time I launch Reason or open a song in Reason, it requests me to insert my Factory Sound bank and/or Orkester sound bank disks.

A. When Reason is launched, it needs to locate your Factory and Orkester Sound banks in order to be authorized. If Reason can’t find these on your hard disk, Reason will request these disks to be inserted.

Copy both soundbanks from your cd’s to your Reason folder. It’s ok to keep any Refills, including these, in an else location than in your Reason folder. If you do so, you have to specify the search path for where they are being kept.

1. Open Reason Preferences -> Sound Locations
2. Click on one of the four folders, a browser opens.
3. Select the destination folder where you keep your Refills
 
You can copy the Reason factory sound banks to another drive

This method sometimes works without using one of your database folders

What you need to do is install Reason and copy the sound banks to the install directory. Now while Reason is running you move the sound bank to the partition that you want. Now before you close the program push the button that searches for refills on your system. Wallaa, it should find them. Now close the program and open it again. It should 'remember' where you left the sound banks.

This always worked for us in W2k but XP has been tricky. If it doesn't work, try putting all your refills in a folder on the other drive and add the folder to your ReasonDataBase folders (these are the four folders that you can directly access from the top of the reason window for opening songs and files. Now repeat the above process.

Post again if this doesn't work for you
