'that sounds good. do either (SSL or FS2) work as rewire or vst or rtas instruments?

is that rtas version some sort of upgrade i have to pay for?

doesnt FS2 work as vst/rewire? i mean its NI, aka a modified traktor dj studio, right?'

Serato Scratch Studio Edition and Serato Scratch Live are TWO DIFFERENT PROGRAMS, both based on the same principles.

SSSE is designed for scrathcing samples into pro tools, it is as such a RTAS INSTRUMENT.

SSL (and FS) is a stand-alone hardware/software combo designed for djs who want to mix mp3s. As far as I know (I could be wrong), both SSL and FS require that you use their audio hardware as your sound main sound card.

If you're serious about production, you'll need better a superior soundcard/interface than the ones enforced by using SSL or FS.

AS SUCH, SSSE is the way to go if your priority is recording scratched samples.

My mate bought FS about a year ago. He's just replaced it with Serato Scratch Live, and he says that the sound quality with SSL is vastly superior, and that its more reliable.

RANE + SERATO products are generally da bomb.

- E.g Pitch'n'time .rtas

I'm not trying to casue a storm, but why they hell would anyone buy FS? It's got that stupid round box hardware thing that doesn't fit anywhere in your studio: Stanton are a mess: The sound quality is a bit poor..

ok recording scratches is wonderful. what the hell is SSSE? i need to record my own audio files being scratched, remember! :)

i hear that serato is itunes compatible. does that mean that if i load up the songs on my ipod into itunes, i can use them? cuz i have tons of music on my ipod that i couldnt keep on my comp because they took up so much space.

Yup, serato can use Itunes playlists. It freakin sic b/c all of the time it saves. It can even show album art! Well, hopefully today my paycheck will be big enough to order the package. Oh yeah, when in serato, if you hit ctrl and shift then click on setup, you can play pong using your turntables as the controllers.

i think im leaning towards serato....i can plug the output into PT or cubase i guess....:)

im trying to decide between final scratch and serato and (thankfully) stumbled across this thread.

i think i'm leaning more towards rane at this point because i'm primarily concerned with scratching, juggling, and mixing hip hop.

i want to be able to record scratches over my own beats and SSL seems like the one to go with.
my set up is 2 computers. running the dj program off a g4 powerbook through the mixer, then the mixer into a dell desktop.
will SSL be able to get the job done?

any advice would be greatly appreciated
