so many things wrong with what you just said.

a) if you're born in africa, and you live in africa, you're a native african. i don't care how "offensive" you might interpret that as, but the case remains that any being that is living on the land they were born in is a native.

b) "native tribesmen" does NOT mean uncivilized and backward - it describes people who live in a tribal setting, and are native to the area. you can interpret it however you wish, but don't claim that the meaning is something it's not.

c) it is NOT like calling you "negros". the origin of that word is spanish, and means "black" - that's what you are, no? it's not scientific, either. the scientific word for black people would be "homo sapiens sapiens", just like the scientific word for white people, yellow people, or purple people. in the 60's and 70's, the term "negro"'s colloquial meaning changed, but it's true meaning never did.

get your head together.

re-read what i wrote.then read this:

a) i already acknowledged that the word "native" is technically correct, but it offends people. geez, whoever said that already offended about 4 people before i replied, isn't it obvious?

b) on the same note, ofcourse "native tribesmen" does not mean uncivilized but the way it was used back then, that is the impression that was given.

c) the scientific name for black peoplpe in general is "negroid", white people "caucasian", chinese-asian like "mongoloid". Yes, u r sort of right, since the scientific name was gotten from the latin word meaning black. Ofcourse u know latin is the language from which spanish is based. Also, "homo sapiens sapiens" is the scientific names for humans as a whole! geez.

The word negros is technically not offensive, but i bet u a caucasian going through the hood wouldn't get out alive if he starts calling everyone negros. just a little fyi.

i don't care how many people were offended by it - the fact of the matter still remains that the offense is ungrounded.

as for me (being white) calling black people n!ggas - i've done it many a time, and everyone i know doesn't seem to have a problem with it... perhaps it's because they understand that the context isn't meant to be offensive - but then again, they call me "n!gga", too...

another perfect example of ungrounded offense - black people can call each other n!gga, but as soon as anyone who isn't black says it, they wanna lynch the guy.... What up with that?

to be honest i don't know. only african-americans call each other niggas from what i know. i'm not african-american, i don't call my black brothers niggas and I'm offended by anyone who calls me that whether black, white or whatever. i really don't understand it, but it's stupid and narrow minded and just goes further to tarnish our image. but it has become so much a part of black america's culture i don't bother saying **** anymore, i just turn away or ignore it.
