Hey guys wuts goin on...just startin this dj ish but got a lil problem

i have a Stanton SMX.201 mixer which worked great, but i've noticed the past few times i've used it i have caught static as the crossfader passes the middle going either direction...does anyone know how to get rid of this or what it might be from n how to fix it?

its probably dust in the fader...

get some compressed air and blow that in to it and it shud get rid of it...

or u may have to open it up and clean it manually using like cotton buds or something...

or may be uve worn the fader out? shud be ok for a while longer tho after a clean.

yea i'll try cleanin it out...

i don't think i coulda worn it out, i've only had it for about 3 weeks lol

collected dust i guess, i'll give it a shot, tahnks for the help

well tried cleanin it...

didn't do anything...i guess i can really only take it back to the record shop n see wut they can do with it

The fader is bleeding. You'll have to get another fader, or a better option, get a better mixer.

haha yea, it was like the lowest model of mixer they had

i think i'm just gonna take it in and see bout paying the difference to get a higher one...any suggestions?

i'm thinkin either numark or sumthin...

I would suggest just searchin around for reviews, prices, and info on mixers because there is ALOT to know about mixers. Some of them are really great and some are just horrible, and you wouldn't want to get stuck with a horrible mixer again. don't go out for a cheap one because its most likely going to die quickly just like the one you had so you'll most likely have to do some saving.

personal preference and bad experience would lead me away from numark, imo the best mixers would be vestax, or if you can get the cash, rane, there are probably a few new editions to the numark range as a few peeps i spoken to rate the digital fader models, but the way i see them is more things to go wrong!!

yea man, i was thinkin about maybe a vestax, i heard they make some of the best, so i'll probably check that out today when i go...i'll lay a post bout how it all goes over the weekend of sumthin, thanks fo the help again guys

i got a 201 and the same thing happened, sprayed it down and it helped a little bit cutting to one side, overall just think i need a better mixer.

Yea for sure
i took it into the record shop the other day, and he gave it a good spray with lubricant, and then with the pressurized air bottles and cleaned it right up...just said to try and keep the mixer covered with a garbage bag or sumthin everytime i'm not using it...so hopefully it don't happen too often...

IF ur playin on do sum cuttin n the future, go wit an Sk model stanton mixer. Cant get better performance really for the price. Plus u can throw n a focus fader, which glides like butter for about 100 Can. If u wanna throw down a few more bux go wit a vestax Pmc 05-07 prolly the next best mixer before the Rane Rm56.

Deffinately take the Vestax into consideration, figure my next mixer will be with them, not to happy n haven't heard alot of great things with Stanton so...
