I have an HD3 system with a g5,Pro tools 7.4 i do not want to upgrade to an intel g5, If i use my macbook pro to mix can i simply connect the headphone out to my mixer or headphones using built in audio or will the quality not be good enough. My reason for this would be to get pro tools 9 without having to spend a fortune on a newer intel g5 because my laptop is an intel machine. I could record on my existing set up and then transfer to my laptop to mix with more updated software.

Why mix on a laptop using a built-in soundcard when you have a HD3 system? Legacy HD hardware still works with PT9 and PT10 (it will not be compatible with PT11 though). Is there any specific feature in 9 that's pushing this decision?
