Post pictures of your studio!

You guys are talking about how you only have a computer and a mouse...I only have a computer, mouse, mic, headphones, and speakers. What's more important to save up for...better monitor speakers or machines like a mpc or midi keyboard??

Monitors, no doubt! A pair of good monitors and a good soundcard is the most important indeed. You need to hear everything in your track so you can mix it properly.

So, save up for some good studio monitors! =)

Okay, so what would you recommend for top quality computer speakers that could plug right into my output? I know I said computer speakers because all I have is the lap top. I have no sound board that some monitors could plug into. Is that something that should change? And another question is...Is there someway to plug monitors into a computer output?

Thanks for the time guys.

Nope.

We bought the cable and ends in bulk and made them ourselves for cheap.

Step your cable game up homie.

Fair enough. Good ends like Neutrik are good to have, but I have never found a difference in cable quality except for noise (but only at very long cable lengths) and with guitar/similar sources.

The cables we bought are made for home studios, specifically older houses that may have grounding or interference problems. They've helped tremendously. Also I have spdif cables made by Black Lion Audio that sound MUCH better than the cables you'll find at wall mart, which muddied up my sound like crazy.

Now this has to be a blatant lie. Unless I'm mistaken, SPDIF carries DIGITAL data.

Cables do not alter the sound in digital cables. At all.

At all.

They either transmit the data, or do not. Interference can be an issue with certain data transfer standards, but it cannot be looked at like audio. SPDIF does not at all carry audio. It carries a digital representation of it.

S/PDIF is a digital audio interconnect

A 1 cannot become a 0. A 0 cannot become a 1. Not in digital interconnect.

I have to stay a skeptic unless somebody's posts a/b samples or something. But theoretically it makes no sense.

Didn't know you could get those. I live in a Victorian house converted into apartments with wiring older than I am. Its a *****.

I see what you're saying, and maybe the ones I had from wal mart were defective, but I know what I heard. Also, we can get into better materials/build quality and such, jitter, length of the cable, all kinds of crap. If I have the money to invest in a cable that I can rely on to get the job done, then I will.

You can get a different tone from a guitar cable as it does the same thing as the capacitor on the tone knob but I doubt you would hear any difference with line level or digital.

Massive is killin it, but here's mine. It get's the job done. Chaîne de agindtown - YouTube
