Damn, I wish I knew the answer. Numark gear is bad in general. I'll tell you this though, I've had my American Audio Q-D5 for about 2 years and haven't had a single problem with it. They run about $150 and have a smoooooth optical fader (better than the old magnetic ones in most cases), kill switches, curve control, balanced outs, all that good stuff.

It's probably the best mixer under $200 I've ever used. If you want something that's gonna last, it's the business.

aight cool good looks cause i am looking for something to learn to scratch on i have had these tables for a year and still aint used them yet.

You can get a Korg KM-202 for like $200.
THat thing is dope with the Kaoss pad built in.

That's true, and I've heard good things about the fader on those. I can't imagine it's going to be as durable as the Q-D5, seeing as it's still a magnetic fader on a $200 mixer.

You never know though, Skratchworx gave it a pretty good review, aside from the fact that it's basically made of plastic.

Yea I've read the review. I really dig the Mackie D.2 Pro. But for 200 the Korg seems nice. Idk that much about DJ gear. I wanna get a set of decks though. Been thinking about getting the Numark battle Pak V4. I know they aren't Tech12's but for the price they seem like a good learning tool to go with my MPC.

No! Lol, the best advice I can give you is NOT to get the Battle Pack. Go on Craigslist and find a used pair of Technics ($400-ish is good) or Stanton Str8-100's (you can usually get a pair around $250). Those Numark tables are trash, and if you buy them you'll upgrade from them in about a month after realizing how trashy they are.

Trust me on this one lol, I've tried a pair and the motor is weaker than a belt drive.

Your probably right.
I guess I should just get a phono preamp for my current belt-drive turntable so I can sample; and get some good decks and mixer later.

If you wanna scratch and stuff, I would get a decent mixer now, then just get one 1200.

No sense in having 2 TT's w/ no mixer.

cosign it sucks, i look at my tables with shame, had em for a year and still aint used them. the korg km-202 is dope, you can change out the fader and put the innofader in, but the up faders/volume faders, they are hard to scratch with, because faders are stiff and kinda hard to move. but the x-fader is dope. and you can change it out.

i think i am still gonna go with the qd5 tho, i really dont need effects right now i just need to practice.

Our 'Studio'

Here's our 'studio'. Just a space in one of our rooms so it's not ideal but we're just learning and we'll consider a dedicated room a little later on. When I say we I mean me and my daughter - she's learning guitar and I'm working with Pro Tools & Reason 4.

Ya. My boy on youtube A-Justice has that mixer and he is always doing some cool sh1t with it though which is why it has my attention. I really want the Mackie D.2 Pro though. It's firewire and certified for Traktor Scratch Pro so you can get the software for 1/2 price.

SICK setup Patrick I dig the layout, everything at your fingertips. Question: Is your Macbook acting as your computer for your flat screen? I have a Macbook too but I am growing tired of the small screen when I'm producing at home.

Part 3- (Sorry but every time I post pic's in the post its goofy!)

I just got a new Blue SNowball USB Mic for sampling and doing quick recordings and its actually very good, I am really surprised!

lol damn dude nice gear. I can't help but think the room your putting it in is a little too small though? lol

Thats tight about the snowball. I wanna get a Zoom H2 portable mic for sampling and recording off the top cyphers and what not.

Yeah, the room is mos def too small! I am trying to get that problem solved right now. I have a bigger room in the house, but I treated this one when we built it with hardboard sound deadening insulation and special hardwood floor materials (under the hardwood) that helps acoustics, so moving out of the room is not what I want to do, but I am starting to see that I may have no choice?

I think I am going to custom build a desk for the room that basically goes around the room all the way against the wall and build it narrow to maximize space before I decide to move and if it doesn't work, I can still use the desk in the other room? I have a lot of wasted space and the pics I just took and I am still moving things around, so its not all done yet.

As for the Snowball, I love it when you buy a piece of gear on a whim for an idea and it turns out to be much more than you even hoped for, especially when it only costs you $80 like the Snowball did!

Let me know how the Zoom Mic works out?
