Hello everyone. I finally made the decision to invest in my dream solution. I have not a single regret. These are the first pictures I have posted, I have purchased this gear through detailed reviews and feedback from the FutureProders.com forum. Let me know what you think as I have yet to have any feedback about my simple design.

For my birthday this past August, I purchased the DIGI002R (with Factory Plug-ins), and the Mackie HR624 Monitors and Stands. I later sold some gear and replaced it with the MOTIF-RACK ES version and picked up the new Avid M-Audio Controller. Thanks for checking it out.

Gear Used for personal studio:

Roland MC-909
Roland Fantom X6
Yamaha S90
Yamaha MOTIF-RACK ES
Avid M-Audio Axiom 49 Controller
Avid DigiDesign Digi002 Rack with Factory Plug-ins
Mackie HR624 Monitors
Shure SM58 Microphone
Sterling ST55 Condenser Microphone
Dell XPS M170 2GB DDR (256MB 7800GTX)

That is a real nice setup, but why do you have the S90 and the Motif ES, when the S90 is basically the same as the Motif series minus the sampling and sequencing. The S90 has the ES soundset. I saw in your profile that you said S90 midi controller. That's a hellacious controller:p

Honestly there is no reason to keep both. You could sell either one. If you sell the S90, use the fantom as a sound engine/controller:cheers:

S90 vs MOTIF ES - Why both? Good Question... I'm not sure...

Well, I bought the S90 originally, but thought the ES was better sounding - (hence S90 ES that was released). But I got a good deal on the MOTIF RACK ES. I love the S90, and don't want to get rid of it - the hammer action is the best I could find. But at the same time, the S90 doesn't have the same feel as the MOTIF ES. Am I wrong? but the performances internal to the MOTIF ES are more inspirational and just seem better. I feel the limits of the S90 and the MOTIF RACK ES has given me a feeling of that those limits have been expanded if you know what I mean.

What exactly is the difference between the 'ES' versions anyway... MOTIF then the superior MOTIF ES and the S90 and the newly released S90 ES.

But anyone else care to share an experienced opinion of the S90 and the MOTIF ES?

So I guess if I were to sell one, would everyone agree that the S90 should go because the MOTIF ES is the better synth?

But all in all I wanted the MOTIF ES and I don't think it is smart financially to sell the S90 when it is my best 88 key hammer action controller - I'd have to replace it, but it would cost me at least the same amount to get a comparable controller and feel of the S90.

Here are the awesome prices I paid for these items new out the door no additonal taxes or shipping.

S90 $1550.00! - 2 years ago
MOTIF RACK ES $950.00! - last week

OK, that's $2400.00 - which minus a conservative 5% sales tax (VA) of $120.00 is a sales price of $2280.00.

$2280.00 - Not bad - considering a MOTIF ES 7 costs more than that today. - It may even prove useful working with both units simultaneously. I was just so happy with the sound quality of the S90 I figured - I would be willing to upgrade with another Yamaha product - and I believe the ES is an upgrade.

But technically I do not know how the ES betters the S90.

I don't know but thanks for the opinion - any other thoughts?

I'd like to hear your stuff -

The MC-909 believe it or not is the oldest piece of gear in my setup, but without a doubt is my favorite piece of gear. If I was only allowed to have one piece of gear it would be the MC-909. Yes over the MOTIF ES and the FANTOM X!

Don't get me wrong - I don't want to lose the ES or the X but if I had to, the 909 would stay! BAD ASS!

Phantom, is that 99 as in american money? I've been on that site and the prices seemed pretty cheap.

No thats Pound Sterling.

If you bought from that site it would be $185 and you would have to pay for shipping to the US.

@eeseek: Looks really clean & nice. I don't have a Dell PC, but bought myself the same keyboard you have there off from eBay not long ago. I love the keys. :)
