Piano Roll Question inside FL Studio

All of the tutorials I watch on the Piano Roll in FL Studio show the person drawing in the music, I would like to play it in real time from my Midi Controller.

Can I get this information and a guide on how to setup my midi controller into FL studio.
 
You might also want to check out your midi settings and make sure your midi device is being connected. When you play something on your keyboard do you hear any sound?
