I have a problem here that I'm sure all DJ's have from time to time. It's when your hands are cold or slippery and can't grip the record if you skratch or mix. This may not be a serious issue but I'm sure it's good enough to be talked about and I think I'm the first to bring it up.
 
hehe dont you notice how many dj's lick their fingers? ;)

dip your hands in warm water and then lightly dry them and they will be naturally sticky, that should help
 
I've never really thought about it, but when i'm mixing i'm forever licking my fingers, then wiping them on my shirt, maybe thats why my t-shirt's are always grubby!!!
 
now that i think about it..i used to do that when i first got my decks
i wud lick both hands and wipe it on my pants

i was always leaving my room with 2 wet spots above the knee on my pants.......
wow

i always thought i had some wack sweating disease..
 
maybe i'm really sensitive about my records, but i cringe at the thought of putting saliva on my hard earned vinyl.
 
Yeah, I wouldn't lick my fingers and get my records all wet and slimy. I would just try to find another way to grip the vinyl.
 
I find I run into this as well...but only on certain records, so I have no problem gripping...others I have to lick my fingers.
 
Here is an idea but it dirty's your records pretty bad. However you won't ever have to worry about grip. There is this stuff you can get at your local office supply store, it's what mail sorters use to keep their fingers sticky. I think it's called sorting tack. It's about as consistant as bees wax just dab some on your fingers and there you go.
 
i saw a movie from the x-cutioners a few days ago where one of the dudes also liked his fader hand :P

if ya do that and your hand drys up a bit doing crabs than sucks, so the dude keeps on lickin his fingers :P
 
Easy solution - wear rubber gloves and change your name to DJ Marigold! :p

That's so choice - think of the rubs you could pull off if you were rocking the yellow glove look.

I'm gonna try that tonight... this could be the start of a new technique...
