Path to mastery in music.

They say to master something, 10,000 hours is how long you gotta practice it until you're a master at it.
I've been rapping for 5 years, and producing music for 3-4 years. How do you think Eminem is so good at what he does?

10,000 hours applies for ultra competitive professions that are almost purely practice driven: concert pianists, athletes, chess grandmasters etc. It also has to be focused practice, performing something you already know how to do doesn't count.

40 hours a week, 40 weeks a year, for 6 years solid?

If you only do 3 hours a day five days a week (probably the max you can do with a full time job at the same time for an extended period of time), then it takes 16 years
