I VOTE FANTOM G

I dont like Korg Sounds, Yamaha got some dope sounds, Roland is in the lead I think

i dont like korg sounds either, but the synthesis on that oasys is rediculous... the strings sound so full and the piano is just beatiful... idk this is a close one between the 3 cause the motif, has a rep of being the best, the fantom isnt to far behind because of all of its features and capabilities, and then korg is just a big azz computer that looks like a keyboard/synthesizer

The OASYS is simply in a class all by itself.

It really should be M3 vs. MotifXS vs. Fantom G
I agree, the oasys costs $8000. How can it compare it to keyboards that cost half the price? I think a more fair comparison would be with the Nekos or some of Dave Smith's high end synths.
The fantom/motif/M3 shouldn't really be considered "professional" anymore since so many more hobbyists own them than actual professionals, who have access to many of the high end synth/workstations like oasys.

A device is considered "professional" because of its specifications, features and fitness-for-purpose, not by a list of "who owns one". It's ridiculous to suggest otherwise.

I have the fantom XR....the sounds are decent. I've played the oasis and its just a juiced up version of the triton...my opinion. I just traded my motif es for the XS8 and i LOVE it!!!!!!!!!! Don't think I would buy another keyboard or module for a long long time plus software synth are starting to sound pretty good. Eventually keyboards are going to be no longer!

Keyboard workstations are QUICKLY becoming stone age...

But nobody will believe that until they get one of their own.

I really wanna see what the Fantom G is about cuz it sounds like a dream workstation and the mouse option is somethin that I think will help ALOT with sequencing everything and save alot of time givin you more time to make beats...I have messed wit the Oasys for a while and it has some AMAZING sounds on it (my producer has one) but Im a little skeptical if its worth $8000 but that big azz screen is beautiful lol

Motif XS8 means the 88 key version...I know what i said.
Motif XS7 and XS6 mean the smaller version.

I agree that keyboards will eventually be gone forever. Soon it will be just controller keyboards with no sound and all virtuall instruments. But until then the motif XS8 is the last keyboard I will buy. One of the main reasons I bought it was because I really need a 88 key controller also with the latest sounds. I have the fantom XR rack, V-synth rack, triton rack, and the rest is software or virtual intruments.

Oh no doubt... The XS is tight, but you gotta have the TIME to get the most out of hardware... I still want a Nord 88, but I'll have to pullin in at least 2 Gz a month to make that investment... But right now couldnt be happier with my MPK and Reason 4.

It just let me concetrate on makin the best I can, without having to worry about tracking, sequencing and most importatly NOISE!

I hate the fantom. I hate roland. Roland machine's are a piece of crap. Okay let me slow down. I know people say the Motif is a musician board in which it is because of the high quality sound it produces however why would you want to make beats with weak sounds. That make no sense. I dont care how many gadgets or knobs it has even the oaysys got knobs too. I have a triton. I think the motif pisses on both of them roland and oaysys. Dont get me wrong I like the functions and user friendliness of korg but why would I pay 7 g's for a oaysys when I could spend 2 g's on motif and get just as good of a sound. do the math

You can buy a couple of Motifs and Fantoms for the price of the Oasys.
I think the Korg M3 would be more in the group.
The Oasys is hard, in a good way.

why is oasys so tight again ? the sounds themselves are alright. Ivory probably has better pianos, eastwest probably has better strings, guitars etc. i heard a demo of Oasys expecting to hear the best piano i ever heard and it sounded normal. so id its not the sounds then what is it ? MOST people would buy a workstation based on the sound quality. why is it 10,000 dollars if it has garbage sounds ?

Fantom G8

Hi,

I'm from the Netherlands.
I have a Korg Oasys ( 76 keys ), Motif XS8 and a Yamaha EX5.

For me the Korg Oasys is the best workstation.
Tomorrow I'll sell my Motif XS8. The Yamaha EX5 will cover the Yamaha sounds that I need.

The Yamaha Motif XS don't have the sound caracter that I like!
It sounds a bit moddy, for example the piano sounds moddy and not clear enough ( maybe the acoustic yamaha piano's sounds the same way? ). The instrument has power but that's not enough for me, because in the studio power is not the only thing that matters.

Í have played the Roland Fantom G8.
I'll buy it next week. I like the sound more than the motif XS sound.
It sounds clear, fresh and the fx are great. It will sound great in the studio. I think the Motif XS is better for live, because it has more power. Although, I think with a little tweaking the Fantom G can sound fat to.....

But it's al subjective....

I'm a professional studio user.

Greetings, Petrus :)

I use a Korg Oasys and a Yamaha Motif XS, and of course : both can do almost everything,
but the Oasys still is in a league of its own, concerning sounds, effects and features,

Whether its about programming, direct access via the touchscreen or the unlimited possibilities
you have with the Oasys for live or studio use,
the Oasys with all its sound expansions is even comparable to high cost software I used,
and its because its a computer on its own !

But the Motif XS is still one of the best synths out there, especially for acoustic instruments
and their typical realism Yamaha stands for since many years,
Both are fantastic instruments, and the biggest difference is the price !
Maybe its better to wait for the next generation of synths
in 1 or two years to save a lot of money ?!?

I lied... If I had the doe to blow (no homo), I'd get an Oasys... But the Fantom is more realistic for my budget...

hand me the loot for the OASYS and I'll get meself a Motif ES, a MicroX or X50, a Roland Fantom X and a vessel to transport me treasure. Arrrhh
