Numark TTX1 turntables

Just to add to this nice discussion... I think that the idea of involving more and more senses into the controlling DJ interfaces is valid, and should be explored by manufacturers, but I've seeing the whole design concepts going back to the more simple and hands-on approach.

In the 90's there were this trend towards the ultimate command experiences with 3D interfaces and all much like that Passenger of The Future thing, but it all came down when the R&D whitecoats realized that humans are basically analog in nature and our brains and bodies are pretty much used to tactile sensations not only to control (as in knob-twidling) but also to use as reference for the mind.

So, advancements in this area are welcome, as is experimentation, but I think we're still very much into buttons, leds, numbers, faders, knobs, etc... which is not bad IMHO.

True that. But that trip to the extreme made us conscious of the opposite. It made us realize that we don't like the 3d or that we don't like it in that form we experimented. There's no knowing without trying. Props to the ones that try. I like this thread.

lo siento

yo my bad dj corea,... i read and responded quickly without thinking... i still stand by what i said, but i see what ur saying now, if u had to choose one to improve, yeah mixers could change more. but i was under the impression that u just didn't think tables could go any further then a tech... didn't mean to bash ur opinion. b/c the entire point of this forum is to hear other people's opinions... i still stand by my opinion though that equipment can always be improved and that people shouldn't bash it just b/c its not the "standard." and also i think this is the most intresting forum i have ever read/contributed to on this site.

I think new features on the mixer and the decks are cool. They just give you more options. I guess my problem is that when it comes to the x1's (or any deckthat is not a 1200) most of the loudest critics have never touched the thing and they kill individual features or minor flaws but never seem to look at in the context of overall performance. When I bought my x1's I was actually there to buy pdx2k's and out of curiosity got them ( had 30 days to return them) and while not perfect (the beat counter is off alot) they have performed better than anything I ever expected from Numark and Overall just as good as 12's in a lot of ways.

My first post, I thought I'd drop my thoughts on the TTX1's. I own a pair... after some HEAVY DEBATE I traded in my 1200's for some. Now I LOVED my 1200's.. but after a couple times on the numark decks I felt as though I HAD to switch. Say what you may about these decks, but they are  I love em, and I'd HIGHLY recomend them to ANYONE.

i just got back from GC to check out the TTX's and i agree they r phat!!!! The one thing i really don't like is how you do motor off effects w/ it. you have to adjust the brake to as low as possiable.

If anyone ever watches BET THE BASSment then you would notice they always have a DJ on.
Well first they had Gemini SV-2200's, then they updated to (ugly as hell) blue/green Gemini 2410's, then 3 days later, NUMARK hooked them up with some NUMARK TTX's. They look even doper on tv.

So if you wana check it out I think its on 4-6 or 5-6 weekdays on BET.
Just thought I'd share.

PS..yes..i only watch the show to barely ever hear or see the dj doin somethin lol

just thought i'd add my little bit of input here :)

i got my ttx-1's in early january after using 1210's for about 3 years, since then i haven't looked back (ofcourse i still keep my technics safely locked away).
the thing is i own my own business as a dj agency working as a dj myself amongst others and whenever i have gigs lined up i have to get the technics out just to get used to them again because i find the torque on the numarks blows the technics out of the water to be quite honest with u, its a totally different standard in my eyes, i only have to stroke the platter on the 1210's for it to stop completely (in comparison with the ttx-1's), i would like nothing more than the new industry standard to be these numarks but frustratingly it is never going to happen is it!! totally outclass any other turntable on the market in every respect (but thats just my opinion, all the same i will big them up to everyone i meet) :D

my question is why evrything must be like technics 1200. I mean, if it is not a technics , than it is not good. That is sooo worng. YOu find tehncis everywhere sure. BUt who says another brand is not good or better? I mean, the vestax and numark are way better than the tehcnis, who is only making money thanks to the old days secrets. MOVE on, tehcnis...I hope your new cd player will sink in the deepest of oceans. Numark and tascam will wint this game...Even pioneers should be afraid!

everyone raves about the 1200s, because they have stood the test of time... that's the one and only main reason. they give a dj everything he basically needs, and it is the most reliable turntable ever made.

the pdx's, ttx's(which i've owned and sold) haven't stood this test of time.

after ten years, we'll see what's still around.... and i guarantee the 1200s still will be... but who knows about the other tables...

but i'll be the first one to say that the ttx and pdx blow a 1200 away... but a lot of djs don't want any of that fancy stuff...

they want a reliable table, that's gonna last... and that's a 1200.

techs FEEL good. nothing comes close, in that respect. lay all the features on that you want, a tech is still like a steinway or stradivarius, to me. this is a tactile thing we do, and i don't want to be touching plastic. those other decks are great--don't get me wrong. lots of features, and undeniably built with the dj in mind, but i want my hands on tech, period.

I dont use one, but from what i hear it is common. When the ttx and 200 came out they both had motor problems. Apparently, if yours has a problem your supposed to take it to the store you got it from and get a new one, and if that is broken get a new one and so on.

Other than that they are supposed to work great, and I think all of the new ones being made are fixed so this doesnt happen.

But thats just the word on the street...

This is an old topic...

Well, I have one TTX and I am very pleased so far. I have had it for about 2 years now. I use it primarily for scratching. However since I now have my M97xe Shure Audiophile needle, I am going to leave the S-Tonearm on it, and just get me a TT-500 for my Vinyl scratching. The TT-500 has the 5kg motor.

However, from what Numark TS has told me the 5kg motor will not be out on the TTX for at least another couple of months.

I have had mine for a year now, and no complaints what so ever.
This thread seems to have been ran through with opinions. I just thought i'd drop mine. Excellent table, and worth every penny.

" the pdx's, ttx's(which i've owned and sold) haven't stood this test of time."

And let's you die next month...what happens with your turntables then? I really don't care if they stood the test of time. The other mentioned tables are all heavy stuff with metal and rubber and strong m0otors. WHy should they brake? YOU never know. THat is no reason to buy only technics stuff. And it easier to skratch if you got more torque and a stronger motor. That is what technics does NOT have. IT is just what you think is right. I am a beginner DJ and if people say it is easier to use a PDX next to a tech, I want the pdx...and it is cheaper and a good table.

Technically, when discussing about the right scratch turntables, like tech's, numark tt-500/TTX, Vestax PDX, and Stanton Str8's, it does not matter which one of the mentioned you have. If a scratch DJ does not practice, you can still have 1200's and the scratch will still sound wack. Unless of course you have the gift to not have to practice and just be able to jump on the tables fire'em up and perform...
