Hi FP, I am having alot of trouble deciding whether to get the Numark TTX-1 or Technics SL-1210 MK5. Could someone please tell me which one you think is better and reasons that one is better than the other? I am trying to mainly scratch and put them on beats and mainly have scratching on tracks with a buncha effects on the track that I will be using from Vestax PMC 07 & Shure M44-7 Cartridge. Hit me bak wit you suggestions.

If your gonna scratch i would go w/ the ttx. It has more torque, reverse, key lock, and swapable tone arms. The sl-1200 is more of the standard turntable that just feels good to mix on and looks sexy. both are great decks but if your focus is scratching i think you should try the ttx. Another option is buy one of each and the one you like more, you stick w/ it.

the thing bout buying both is that you can have time to make up your mind and become familiar w/ both decks then return the deck you don't like for the other.

TTX1 for scratching.. if mixing is important the ttx1 still works, and better in my opinion, but if you don't want to drag it around you may not like that most clubs use technics.. tho i went from using 1200s to ttx1s and i can still use techs just fine.. but i dont know if a ttx1 user would have difficulty going from a ttx1 to techs... it mostly depends on the pitch and if i was gonna be somewhere using techs instead of my ttx1s and couldnt bring em with me for some reason then nid keep my set to +/-8 on the pitch.... just cuz i knew it had to be so...

the torque.. u can't really tell the difference i don't care what people say... i guess some can. i can't really. both have quick start and stops... brake adjust is cool on the ttx1.. **** all the features are almost except the BPM..

Go with the Techs.
They are standard eveywhere.
Unless you gig with your own gear, go with the TTX-1, it's something different, and also very good with nice features.

Well if this helps, I'm only trying to use these at home mostly in my studio.

well doc, you got our views. Now go out and try them for yourself side by side. It's not easy saying which to get b/c both are great decks. Some think ttx are best others think sl1200s are best. You just gotta make up your own mind and stick by your judgement.
