No MIDI sound playing when moved to arrangement view??

hey guys,

I'm trying to move MIDI string clips from session view to arrangement view in Ableton Live 9. When i move it i can see it on the timeline but it never plays any sound. what am i doing wrong?

Should it be as simple as to just open a new midi channel, drag an instrument into the channel, makey midi melody then copy and paste it into arrangement view?

You need to activate the track in arrangement view. Click on the arrow on the right side of the track in arrangement view to activate it there. Ableton can't play the same clip in both session and arrangement view so you need to do this if you just rag and drop a clip from session. Another alternative is to use the back to arrangement button on the top right corner in arrangement view, it's orange with some bars and an arrow on it. But this will stop all session view and only play what's in arrangement.
