I don't own one, but I have been researching it. From this video, it seems that it can. But it is limited to 1 port of 16 channels. If your MIDI is set up properly you should be able to send and receive to various modules. You would be sharing 16 channels with all modules instead of having 16 channels dedicated to each module.
And it is not stand alone. It's basically a VERY tightly integrated hardware/software combination. The hardware can be used as a MIDI controller, but without a computer it's useless.
