I'd rather have a loyal niche fanbase like Tech, instead of temporary mainstream fans who buy your album once and forget about you.

Strange Music made $8 million last year, that's all I'll say.

If he were mainstream, people wouldn't check for him like they do now.... but for some reason, he can't get that mainstream steam going for him.

I guess it sounds like I don't like him but that's not the case. I've played some of his stuff throughout the years. Most of it's just not for me though.

I wish Tech much continued success.

For two reasons:

1) Although his tracks are polished and mostly quality, there's always a cheesy/corny element to his music that turns a lot of people of to him initially.

2) His subject matter is pretty dark for mainstream these days, i suppose..

just some thoughts..

People from other countries like yourself don't understand my attitude or American swag because you had to actualy be living here and have grown up here as a free human being to understand but you didn't and have no idea about what I am like so therefore you hate. I don't understand people's dislike of him for shyt. But when I look at the people they listen to or let get passes, I get even more confused. With songs like: Red Nose/ Hope for a Higher Power/ Breathe/ Paseo/ Come Gangsta/ Welcome to the Midwest/ Happy Endings/ Message to the Black Man/ Suicide Letters/ Worst Enemy/ Cry Baby/ Pillow Talkin/ Cursed and many many more I don't get why people would say he sucks or only certain people listen to him. What's corny/weird about his music? I've never seen a person explain that when they say it, but people listen to Gucci, Jeezy and all other garbage ass rappers. I know it's a thing of taste but damn. Niggas been talkin about rappers gettin called out for being fake and not being who they rap about but when a nigga is fully expressin himself in his music, he gets dissed left and right.
 
I don't listen to much TechN9ne, but I liked most of the stuff I have heard. Something about him just doesn't draw me in for some reason. Maybe I need to go back a little further...

I will say that all the people that I have known that were fans of TechN9ne have been HARDCORE fans of TechN9ne.

I can respect that...he's definitely got a solid fanbase that seems to be continually growing.

TechN9ne should call 50 Cent... I'm serious.

He's a good lyricist but terrible song writer. He should just have singers or scratching on all of his hooks... and he screws up his songs by switching up his flow mid-song. Sometimes I think the song has changed "Is this the same song?" Songs be all over the place... smh.

Tech seems comfortable where he is though and seemed kinda down to Earth on that Real Axis interview. I ain't mad at him.... he just needs to take a different approach to his songs and he'd have even more fans.

I LOVE those multiple flows, that's why his songs never bore me. I guess Tech isn't for everyone. Some people like his music, some don't. I'm okay with that. What I DO hate is people who call other people that listen to his music retards. I mean, I hate Soulja Boy's music, but I don't call his fans retards.

See that's where Tech and SB differ. SB can't really rap but he knows that the beat and the hook can carry a whole song. Hammer did it and became a household name.

Get your hooks tight and nobody cares what you're saying. I bet everybody over 25 knows the hook to Rappin' Duke but probably can't remember any of the words.

I don't have a million fans so I could be wrong.

Rome, let me ask you this question. If everyone jumps off a bridge, will you follow? What I'm trying to say, maybe those million fans don't care about the music. Maybe they care about doing stupid dances in clubs and watch girls shake it (now there's nothing wrong with that one LOL), but you know what I'm trying to say. Just like you said, give them a simple ass hook and a simplistic beat and they're set.
