New idea for instrumental mix tapes?

Don't see how it could be an instrumental mixtape if you have vocals all over it. Would be more like a remix mixtape.. And I can tell you that plenty of people want to listen to instrumentals, so the mc was wrong.. All you need is to gear the tape towards the listener, for example not having too long beats if there isn't much variation.
 
The way I look at it, who says you NEED an artist on your instrumentals. Classical music hardly has any vocals yet is some of the most beautiful and complex music. There are producers out there that are solely known through their production. Clams Casino's EP was rated the #1 project by one of the biggest media outlets (I can't remember the name, I think it might have been "Fader" or "Complex"). Look at Flying Lotus, he's doing a world tour of solely his instrumentals. Anything is possible.
