Here is a comparison of the two producers known as the neptunes. Below is a track produced entirely by Pharrell. Chad had nothing to do with this track, it was ALL Pharrell.

Here are some neptunes production where Chad Produced the entire song musically, and Pharrell did not produce and only wrote or sang the chorus. You probably already know these.
Nelly- Hott in Herre
Jay Z- I Just wanna love you
Common- Come Close

Here is another artist produced entirely by Chad. Kenna.
Go to Kennaonline.com to hear the music. once you go to that site the instrumentals will be played automacially, all of which produced by chad.

obviously,

CHAD >>>>> PHARRELL.

Little known fact, Teddy Riley signed the Neptunes as a BAND, chad handled everything instrumentally, and pharrell was lead man/vocalist/rapper. Their first hit was "Rump Shaker", where Chad Played Sax on that track, and Pharrell ONLY ghostwrote one of the verses for the rappers.

When the neptunes blew up and Pharrell became a celebrity, he blatantly tried to become "co producer", when all along Chad handled all beats. These days, Pharrell plays a bigger role production wise, and that explains why a lot of the new Neptune stuff pales in comparison to the old stuff (superthug, lookin at me, i just wanna love you.)

and one more thing you guys thinking pharrell can actually play keys, the guy just recently learned, before Fly Or Die, and he sucks.

Is it me or does this guy have a blatant hate for Pharell trying to make him look bad?

You picked a wack ass track representing Pharell dude...

Chad did Snoop Dogg track Drop it Like its hot & Missy elliot On & On by himself so...

Heres something HOT Pharell did himself:
Omarion-Touch

And didn't Pharell do that fire ass track midnight hour all by himself, then Chad came down and layed some guitar chords...I mean their was a video...

I think they're taleneted equally.

As I understood it Chad does all the sequencing, and some of the drums... Pherell does the melodies, and hooks...so its a trade off. I dont think Chad resents Pherrell for the whole spotlight thing, cuz it doesnt look like Chad is even too huge into the spotlight. Looks like he wants to chill and not be out there like that, so it shouldnt be a huge deal to him if pherell does

why do you people care so much? They don't.

those 2 are The Neptunes together.

LMAO at these responses.

Pharrell did not do Omarion "Touch" By himself.

Pharrell layed the chords down. Thats all i know. I can only assume Chad did the bridge.

Pretty much everything Pharrell does by himself will have the quality of that first track i posted. His stuff, by himself, drums included, is simple, lazy, etc. That thickness you hear, the layered kicks, snares, hats, bongos, thats all chad. Pharrell will usually loop a 4 bar drum track and call it a day. Chad handles everything beyond that.

As far as "Midnight Hour". How do you know Pharrell produced that himself? Because the video shows him laying down that little melody? If you didnt know the piano chords, drums, are already layed down when the video starts, and so either Chad or Pharrell could have layed down that, it sounds like Chad did though.

And for Drop It Like Its Hot, chad did not produce that by himself. The only thing i can confirm is the synth line, on the radio Drew (engineer for the neptunes) confirmed chad layed that down as well as the kazoo sounding flute.

And chad did not produce, "On and On", that was pharrell track.

And its not about the spotlight, i could care less as long as i got paid. its about musical integrity.

Where are you getting your information from?I know Pharell did Touch by himself because his name was the only one listed in the publishing column.Normally when Chad did the beats (like on hot in herre, and just wanna luv u) his name is listed there...furthermore it says all instruments by P Williams for that track.
I can scan the booklet for you if you want.

pharrell wrote "touch" entirely by himself. The track for touch, was not produced by pharrell entirely. i think you are confused. thats why you see p.willliams, and not c. hugo, because those are song writing credits.

They are also credits for who wrote the notation for the instrumental...

http://repertoire.bmi.com/writer.as...D=845731&keyname=HUGO CHAD&querytype=WriterID
Notice on how all the tracks he supposedly did the beat himself he has writer credit?Well on Touch he has nothing.Pharell is credited as ALL INSTRUMENTS also.

On On & On and Drop It Like Its Hot, Chad is credited as all instruments,
GET OFF CHAD'S D*CK!

Which is exactly my point. It's on Pharells but not Chads (while all that other ish u listed is on chads).

On & On is on neither of their list as it is a recent song and ascap only updates their lists every quarter.

Do you have Missy Elliot (with the booklet), perhaps if you do, you could prove to me Chad had nothing to do with that track?

I'm curious if any of the people in this thread have played in an environment with other musicians. It's not just me-me-me. It's sort of a give and take, no matter who is helming the controls. Sure if you really want to you could break it down into who did exactly what, but sometimes without the vibe from another songwriter it would have never happened. That could be their input or just their presence.

Neptunes are a group. They have a unique sound, it follows them through their music. Maybe sometimes it sounds more like Chad and other times like Pharrell, but they work together for a reason.

thats a good point, environment, people around you, play a huge role.

but the neptunes work seperately. chad is usually never in the studio session with the artist. he has his own seperate studio. usually pharrell will send him an idea, and chad will bring it to life and then some, and send it back, via pro tools.

people may be wondering why i'm hating on pharrell so much.
i disliked him ever since the 2003 grammies. where he won "producer of the year", and when he got up on stage, he went up alone, while chad sat in the stands, and pharrell didn't even bother to mention him in his speech.
in any normal situation, i would keep quiet about pharrells lack of raw musicianship talent and his role, but ever since that grammy night, i disliked him.

(pharrell accepts grammy for producer of the year by himself and doesn't thank or even mention the other half......)
for me, its music integrity.

Look, Skunk is right.

I've sat by too long and not said nothing until now.

And I've been a Neptunes fan since day one.

The Neptunes were at their best from 1998-2002. Ever since then, they've had a few hits, but more or less have been fallin off.

This just so happens to coincide with Chad taking a step back and letting Pharrell do his solo production thing. Hell, if that's not enough he's got a solo album coming out soon! damn.

I personally think that when Chad did Kenna's whole album and it got some good reviews, P wanted some solo credits too. So now we have all the crap he's floodin the radios with now.

and BTW, Touch is just aite. That shyt u posted earlier sounds like one of my throw away beats.

Chad isn't complaining so why are you?Chad always says in interviews that he doesn't want to be in the spotlight, so maybe he requested that Pharell didn't mention him.

You must seriously hate the neptunes man... Pharrell must have made you mad or somthing

They're both equally talented and it dosnt matter anyway... If they put out hot tracks that means that they hot bottomline. I seen one video where the neptunes was both working on a track and pharrell was working on the drums and chad was playing with the sounds on a kong
