I really love one of the instruments/synths The Neptunes use in their song Lapdance. Here is a clip of what I mean:

My question is ...
What is the name of that sound? It sound like some sort of electric piano keyboard sound but it is different somehow. The Neptunes use Tritons so is that a preset sound from a Triton?

I have never really heard anything like it and I want to know if their is a name for that particular sound and how I would go about making it.

It's just an ep, you just have to tweak it a little. Maybe mess with the cutoff.
 
i remade that song in reason using a clavinet,i dont know what ur using but in your sampler turn the osc octave to:5
and use the lower keys(between c1 and c2) on yer keyboard. it should sound like what your lookin for.
