Anybody ever use a dope sample and then when you start mixing the beat, the sample just brings down the clarity of the entire beat because of muddy lows/mids? I have a couple beats that im struggling to finish because i cant filter/eq the muddiness. Frustrated as shit lol...anybody have advice? Thinking of just adding vsts to fill up the lows and mids and just hpf the sample

Have you tried EQ? I find that a Parametric EQ can help. Crank up one band to maximum boosting or cutting then move the freq around until it hits your ear and you're like, "this is where I want more or this is what's messing things up." Once you find that freq, just adjust the adjust the level to something more reasonable.
