After about 10 minutes of using my MPC2000XL, when ever a sound is made either from pressing a pad or playing a sequence I get a loud crackling noise. Its not my audio cable, my mixer or my amp as I have plugged my headphones into the headphone out on the MPC and I still get the same noise. Any ideas on what may be causing this crackling?

Where did you get the samples from?

If you transferred them from the computer, it might have mistaken the file header as audio data and is playing it.

Maybe the sample was cut badly so it has a click in it?

Maybe your unit has bad memory.

It's hard to say. Getting it serviced probably wouldn't be a bad idea.

I got the sounds off of a CD using my SCSI CD Drive. I used it again for about an hour or so and I had no crackling, It only happens sometimes.

There's something wrong with the unit then. Maybe some bad capacitors, maybe some corrosion.

It probably won't cost you much to have it fixed. I'd really recommend it before something worse happens, and it becomes irrepairable.

I have just realised that it only crackles when sounds stored on the top 4 pads are played, either when I hit the pads or play a sequence where those pads are used. It only happens after a while of using the MPC.

I don't know what kind of an answer you're looking for.... "tap the MPC on the left hand side with a spoon"?

It sounds like a technical problem, one that requires expertise with electronics. Get it serviced.

Yes, as you have told me but I from the UK so I cannot get it serviced by AKAI.
