MPC vs FL

damn this is old but imma respond anyway...

no. u can get the same sound tat u can on a mpc with fl. makes sure u have good ram, cpu, soundcard (ie. audiophile), and some krk5 or 8 speakers =) and eq if needed

anyone who cares to argue about whether an mpc is better than fruity or vice versa should really rid themselves of the title producer.

tru tru but ummm...............(quickly) mpcisbetter...lol. Well, just like th e motif is better than the triton....to me. thats whats its all about, preference (its been said a billion times). I think these fruity loop users are a lil unconfident. thats what it is. no matter how many rawass track s Ninth makes on FL...its not a MPC. But he doesnt care...you know why....he's making money and his confidence is probably sky high. So do what you do in the end. He can by whatever hardware he wants right now....and he probably will. Am I making any sense? No.... Exactly

The only difference is Portability!!!!!. You can take the MP to da studio vs. luggin around a big ass computer.....although you could have it on a Laptop?...hmmm...

FL is more computer friendly than da MPC. And more graphic. With the MP you're makin da beat by ear, and wit FL you're making it while lookin at da beat. To each is own, i guess!

I use the Motif and FL a lil bit! And I can say with the right plugins, FL can be a beast!!!

Alot of people look at FL and see that wack step sequencer and immediately stop phuckin wit the program!

You have to stock that program wit mad Vst effects and instruments to get it really poppin! Believe it or not, you have to do the same thing with a stock MPC!

To each is own, use whatever piece of equipment that makes your beatmaking process go smoothly and come out wit a hot track!

fl users are so dam insecure of these threads they always come to complete defense fl can do everything this and that can do a majority of these kids never touched any thing but FL studio in there life ,they played with the mpc for couple of minutes in a sam ash or something and realize there isnt a mouse and a box to put your drums in and they give up.

Granted their beats aren't the most fun or innovative, but you can still get rich off of FL, so doesn't that make it professional?

How you act and carry yourself makes you professional. Getting publishing makes you professional. making beats, whether on an MPC or FL doesnt constitute professionalism. The sound you get from what you use helps to reach that level for sure though.

Ive used Fruity Loops since DAY 1 and became pretty damn good with the program. Recently (less than a month ago), i purchased an mpc. It was something that I had wanted for alotta years. Once the mpc came, it was VERY hard to get used to the unit after years of "looking" at what i was doing. Not to mention just figuring out how to use the unit itself. I am now slowly becomeing more and more comfortable with using it, and can say that my beats now have a more organic, and natural flow and swing to them. There is just something about having a sample looping, and just layin out a drum track off the top of your head. Things just sound better to me. Its hard to explain, but after using FL's for many years there is definatly a difference there in the finished product.

if u drop a hot ass beat, and a big-time rapper falls in love w/ it, do u think when he asks u what u used, and u say fruity loops, he's gon be like, "**** that ****, get the **** outta my studio." nah he'll be like, thats hot, let me lace it. who gives a damn what u use. its not the material, its the art.

yea i'm just lik u since i moved from Reason to a 2500...it's completely different and i'm not all that comfy with my MPC yet....the sequencer and how everything is done on the mpc is nothing compared to reason...but thats no big deal cause everyone talks about how great the mpc's workflow is and whenever i figure out how to do something on it, i start to see what they are talking about

i like mpcs sequencer alot better than fl. The only thing that I don't like about the mpc is loading samples. Drag n Drop is far better than making pgms.

one big thing i hear people complaining about with the mpc is that you have to look at that little window to do work....

In my opinion, the mpc was designed so that eventually you dont really have to even look at the screen to use it. You start to memorize the locations and button presses of everything and you quickly press a few buttons and your there. Ive only had mine a few weeks and im already flying through screens to get where i need and do what i do. The only screen i really look at is the sample trim mode screen. Thats what makes the mpc great is that if you have an idea, you turn it on, load a program that fits your needs and in minutes you have a complete beat. Im able to be super spontaneous with the mpc, and thats why I need it.

akai mpc60 and s950.... roger linn thats why.if you really know you wouldn't even debate.and 9th wonder is wack so quit with the "he uses fruity loops so should i"the only reason you kids use fl is because you can bootleg it for free, its disposable therefore you have nothing invested into it.if you own real equipment(technics, mpc, asr 10 ,mackie, etc)you love your equipment, you worked hard to own it and you had to learn how to use it all.its real you actually touch and manipulate the music you make.plus all the gear is steel and is just more rugged than point and clik production trend that has been trivializing actual production latley.pcs are for porn and first person shooters. nuff said

and this thread goes on!!!

while you guys are busy debating which one is better, I'll be in the next room making music!!

it s not really a matter of which is better.its like do you want to skateboard or do you want to play tony hawk skating for you?point and cick your hi hat or actually play it yourself.if you have rythm get hardware.if your rythmically challenged get FRUITY LOOPS.i also feel if the product changed its name it might get more respect.like it or not the hiphop world does not like gay dudes and a name like fruity is never gonna be respected.

your name sounds like Nostradamus' prediction that a message board with members of a production collective will be harassed by a troll pretending to be somebody else. His name is Chrn.
