Hey Guys: I wanted to get the MPC 4000 but a friend of mine who uses an MPC 3000 says they're much better. Any thoughts on the subject? I produce mainly house music, if that helps at all. Thanks! :hello:

DJ JoeyG,

The 4000 has a warehouse full of features whereas the 3000 is a small toolshed. The genre isn't that important. You can create excellent House music with the 4000. And of course this model has complete integration with a computer, if you plan to use one.

In case you haven't noticed lately the prices for the 3000's are falling and the prices of the 4000's are rising. What does that tell you? People are upgrading to better gear. The revival of interest in the 3000 is ending as producers realize they have gone as far as they can with that technology.

See the mpc3000 as an mpc60 with extra MB.

Which one would you pick now ? :)

Joey;
I have a MPC3000. It's a monster. I love it and have used it for about 5 years. I understand what your friend is saying. But, unless you have some deep seated reason to go for the vintage unit, I suggest that you go with a more recent product. There are more supports in place for the 4000 than the 3000. It's just that simple.

If I were going to buy a MPC now, I'd probably go for the 2000XL. But that's me. The 4000 can be a little more work to grasp, but it's an amazing product and well worth the cost. Go for the easier choice and save yourself some drama later.

Peace.

The MPC3000 that's gangsta'

Yeah. Joey you sound to new at this to f@ck with a 3000. Stick to the new stuff MPC2000 or MPC1000 or you might get disappointed.
