I just got my first mpc. Any tips for learning how to make good drum sequences. I read the kicks are on 1 and 3 and the snares are 2 and 4 and hi hats on every other. Is that the whole basis of it. It cant be!?
Look, this is music, sure there are basics, but the reason you gt an MPC it to bang on it. Just make a beat on the table with your hands or what ever and try and translate that to the MPC. Don't be so rigid with the counting and stuff. Just find a groove and feel it. Or try beatboxing a simple Boom bap. Don't make it harder than it is. Loosen up and HAVE FUN!
If your really having trouble try and copy a song you like. When you break it down, you'll see how simple it is.
